Tips and Misc

Very little of this raid is changed from its heroic and epic variants (see The Chronoscope), so it can easily be learned by going and taking a character through the heroic version solo. This guide will concern itself with changes to the original version of the raid.

• Unlike the Heroic and Epic versions of this raid, this version locks further entry when Veheer opens the Steam Tunnels after Tremas obtains the Sliver of Time. This action is triggered by a player interacting with Veheer, so don't talk to Veheer after Blood Plate's death until everyone is inside the raid.
• First and foremost, Abishai enemies in this quest (Red Abishai Sky Raiders, the Conjoined Abishai Devastator and its five constituent Abishai) will regenerate rapidly until struck with elemental damage counter to the element they represent. This means Cold affects Red Abishai, Fire affects White Abishai, Acid affects Blue Abishai and Electric affects Black Abishai. The counter for Green Abishai is unknown. Also, Abishai spell attacks now decrease the MRR of target players – this has a big impact on the final boss fight.
• Blood Plate now periodically gains a Guard-like effect. This is signalled by him gaining a pair of fiery wings, and deals heavy fire damage to anyone damaging him in any way – it also slows him and increases his Cold Absorption. On higher difficulties, it may be wise to hold your fire until the effect wears off. (Blood Plate will shout "FEAR ME!" shortly before triggering this effect - this is a warning to stop attacking immediately.)
  • Note that DoTs count as direct damage to Blood Plate and will trigger this effect - more fragile players may wish to turn these effects off during this fight.
  • Blood Plate's area now contains green circles that spread a disease which deals Evil damage over time. Note that Paladins and Undead players are not immune.
  • The Tiefling Armorers are red-named on Legendary, and their attacks reduce PRR, AC and Fortification.
• Razor Arm's arena includes respawning Living Spells called Circles of Great Scorn, which mark out circular areas around them. While inside, players cannot move (excepting abilities that propel them forwards) and take damage as if helpless. Razor Arm becomes highly resistant to all types of damage while standing on one of these circles - this is indicated by a red armor effect, similar to the appearance of Tenser's Transformation. On Elite and Reaper, this buff is on if any of the Circles are active at all.
  • Circles respawn in groups of 4 every 30 seconds, making managing them very important for a push group as powering through Razor Arm's massive buffed defenses is not a feasible strategy on higher difficulties. Circles of Great Scorn are immune to many instant death spells, but can be instakilled with Trap the Soul or transformed with Mass Frog. (Ideally, anyone casting Trap the Soul needs a Conjuration DC of at least 78 and 57 Spell Penetration to maximise the probability of the spell working on the Circles - these will ensure a 95% success rate on Elite. Reaper skulls increase the requirements for both DC and Spell penetration.)
  • Keeping the respawning trash out of this fight will also make things much easier - a couple of Otto's Sphere of Dancing spells placed on a couple of critical staircases should be sufficient to keep the melee-only Devils out of the area you're fighting Blood Plate in.
• The Conjoined Abishai Devastator is heavily buffed by the Abishai special abilities here, but it also gains an effect which makes its melee attacks reduce player's Elemental Absorptions, and a special attack which hits the whole raid, including people outside of the boss fight (and even in the present day zone.needs verification)
• Remember to mop up the optionals in the main area before speaking to Veheer again – this is a very easy way to get two extra end chests and is necessary for the Gem of Many Facets to drop.
