Nebula Fragments are a very rare ingredient that drop from Legendary chests in the Sinister Secret of Saltmarsh expansion. They are used to craft Perfected items from certain Legendary Crafting items using Lahar's shop. The process is as follows:

1. Find or craft a Nebula Fragment.
2. With the Nebula Fragment in your inventory, talk to Lahar. He will bestow a quest upon you and give you the Star Fragments: Frame.
3. With the Frame in your inventory, find 8 Star Shrines. Click them to receive shards of power.
   • Red Shard of Power - Saltmarsh wilderness (South of Final Enemy entrance)
   • Orange Shard of Power - The Chronoscope (Rusty Nail inn, behind the weapon and wand dealers' counter)
   • Yellow Shard of Power - Partycrashers (In the front lobby by the guest list)
   • Green Shard of Power - Storm the Beaches (On the warship)
   • Teal Shard of Power - Into the Deep (Bottom right corner)
   • Blue Shard of Power - Plane of Night (On the island below the main platform - bring Feather Fall)
   • Purple Shard of Power - The Spinner of Shadows (In the lava) DDO Forums
   • Pink Shard of Power - Sands of Menechtarun wilderness (SW from Chains of Flame entrance)
4. Show the complete frame to Lahar to open an interface that allows you to upgrade legendary items to the "perfected" minor artifacts.
   This consumes:
   • Legendary base item
   • Nebula Fragment
   • 500 Threads of Fate
   • 250 pack-specific components

The completed frame is BtA and is not consumed. It must be in your inventory to access Lahar's Perfected Crafting interface. You can move it around using the shared bank to any character who wants to craft a Perfected item.

Note that the Perfected items are minor artifacts and can not be equipped if you already wear one, and that as new items they will not inherit Mythic or Reaper bonuses or effects from the Deck of Many Curses from the item they were upgraded from. Also, you should bear in mind that to be able to create anything with the fragment, you must have access to all eight locations in which Shards of Power drop, only one of which is free to access - you will need to own the following adventure packs/expansions:

• Sands of Menechtarun - Pink Shard
• Sentinels of Stormreach - Green Shard
• The Red Fens - Teal Shard
• Devil Assault - Orange Shard
• The Vault of Night - Blue Shard
• Phiarlan Carnival - Yellow Shard
• Sinister Secret of Saltmarsh - Red Shard
• Web of Chaos - Purple Shard (note: while technically an adventure pack, this is Free to Play)

Every shard except the Red Shard can be accessed with a VIP account; alternatively, a Guest Pass from the DDO Store will allow temporary access to a pack you don't own, albeit at the cost of some DDO Points.

You must currently have the Frame in your inventory to collect Shards from the Shrines, which means your character must at some point have presented a Nebula Fragment to Lahar, either by looting one in Legendary Saltmarsh or by collecting one from your Account Bank. You do not need to have a Nebula Fragment in your inventory to collect Shards.

If all you're interested in is farming for a Perfected item, it's probably easiest to hand a Frame over to a Legendary character who can speedrun each of the required quests until they reach the Shrine, collect the Shard, and exit out straight away. But it's perfectly possible to hand the Frame to other any character, who then collects the shards while running the packs normally at Heroic or Epic levels. Most shards in quests are on the main progression route and easy to find; only the Teal and Blue shards require you to go out of your way to collect them.
