What to Expect
- Platforming on moving stones.
- Point of No Return – dropdown past the village
Known Traps
- Air jets in the room with the floating platforms; can be toggled by hitting target levers.
- Bear traps and pressure plates in the temple hallways. Traps are semi-random in the wider area (including western shrine area, not shown on map!) thus the numbers for bonuses also change.
Tips and Misc
- The end fight has a white dragon, so bring cold resist. (You do not have to kill her, so fire attacks are not particularly necessary or helpful.)
- As you travel the passages of this quest, you'll encounter many small but intense fights with about a half dozen enemies. Be careful about using up your boosts when they are not really needed – you'll recognize the "big" fights when they come.
- In the first large area, go left first (to the northern area) to a dead-end with a lever (and collectable and locked chest); then, double back to the right/southern passage and another lever (and collectable). The shrine is at the end of that passage.
- (Optional) When you first swing north, that 4-way intersection can be ignored to continue on. Or, go left for a lever that opens the right-hand passage, and fight the mini-boss for a chest.
- The opened cavern and Lizardfolk fanatic can be found on the way to the village.
- The puzzle cavern: This consists of floating platforms that carry adventurers either vertically or horizontally to the next ledge, where they throw the next lever to activate the next lift, and so on. Just follow the flow of the lifts up (twice) toward the elevated door out to the west.
- There is no combat here, so no fear of ambush. Good place to go AFK for a couple minutes while the puzzle is being solved.
- The two target levers activate air jets that can blow anyone off the platforms.
- The first can be avoided if you stand all the way to the right side of the platform.
- The second is the challenge here; it alternately activates the left or right of two more air jets. The last platform goes past both, so you have to shoot after that platform has gone past the first but before the second.
- If in a party, you may wish to station someone on the ground (who is not moving), to shoot it at the right moment.
- If solo, you can jump onto the small platform holding the second lever. Shoot the lever while standing on the wall platform, swapping the wind trap, then wait for the moving platform to return. Jump on and ride to the exit.
- Once you successfully navigate all the moving platforms and get to ledge with the door out, to the left of the door there's a lever that activates a single platform from the ground to this ledge. This platform allows other party members to bypass the multiple jumps and air jets, etc.
- In the second large, open area, after you fight a couple groups, talk to the NPC. The Dungeon Master narration will instruct you to do this. Then continue through that area to the second shrine just before the drop-down point of no return (without dimension door and such) – so use it or lose it.
- In the penultimate temple complex, the far northern and southern levers must be pulled. The two levers closer to the center merely open the nearby gates there.
- The puzzle to unlock the last gate is a simple Simon Says mechanic – pull the lever and pay attention to which runes light up, and then repeat those lit rune sequences. The random pattern will present three times, requiring you to remember 3, then 4, and then 5 runes. If you fail, no penalty; re-pulling the lever will start the process again.
- In the first ice room, pull the lever to activate a lift up for the final fight.
- In the end fight, kill the cultist to break the dragon's trance.
- Dunalentha cannot be killed, instead becoming an NPC at low health. In fact, killing Orlanthe without knocking her out scores an optional.
