Tips and Misc

You kick this quest off by using the Inkwell of Aureon to unwrite the Codex's sentience. For once, something goes to plan! At least, until Vecna turns up.
Vecna takes the Codex (from which, of course, you've just removed the ability to resist him) and sets his forces upon the University – which is now at risk of being destroyed outright!
Head through the university basement and to the first staircase, running into a Balor on the way. (Luckily, the Balor can't be bothered to take you on directly, and just sets some Dretches on you.)
- As you go through this area, you'll see two locked barriers.
  - The first area, locked with blue and green levers, contains the Controlled Nightmare fight and the red lever.
  - The second area, locked with red and yellow levers, contains the Necromancy Professor, Sir Jarus ir'Omik.
Fight off a Goristro and head up the stairs to the Lower University (the blue lever is under the stairs.)
Eight of the missing students are in the Lower University area – one each in the library and lecture hall, and six randomly located in the classrooms, generally in pairs.
After the Demon portal, you can head west (minding the acid pool – hires will just jump into the pool) for the yellow lever and a locked chest, or go east to the stairway up to the Lower Library (the green lever is under the stairs.)
Head through the library keeping an eye out for two more students. A door here will take you to the Lower Quad, where you can find the last two students (in the bushes) and the Controlled Death Slaad.
Finally, fight and slay Archmage Lathornal and head east to witness the Balor being driven off by a Red Dragon in a familiar hat – or, as he finally introduces himself, The Traveler.
Morgrave University may have survived the attack, but Vecna now possesses both the Codex and the Planar Eyes. Luckily, it sounds like the Traveler has a plan...
Bug: If you die and release at any point in the quest, it will automatically reset (no 5 minute timer).
