Tips and Misc

This quest is pretty linear. It is split up into three mini-dungeons; you must complete all of them to obtain the Eye.
Despite enemies in this quest being fought on their native plane, nearly all enemies can be banished.
The Archon fortress is under siege by devils. To complete it, run to the room with the three portals and kill every enemy there, then double back to the room with the giant flying machine and head up a corridor to fight the Orthon.
- By jumping up flying platforms in the entrance chamber, you can open a passage with a lever in the rafters which gives you a chest and a route to the portals that skips most of the fighting in the fortress.
- Also in the rafters, near the NPC Elethine, you can find a staircase in an unmapped room on the east wall that takes you underneath the main corridor. Behind two secret doors lies a second hidden chest.
The Devil fortress is confusingly laid out, and there is a fair amount of doubling back. Keep an eye on the DM text for when you need to return to the gate at the start.
- The optional boss Skeetchizen is behind a door over a rope bridge. The lever to open that door is on a platform over the side of the bridge – you'll need a fairly high Jump score to get high enough to reach it.
The Demon fortress is the longest and probably the toughest. Be careful of the named Fire Reaver summoned by the end boss Glabrezu – this high-damage foe teleports in when the boss reaches half health and immediately starts attacking.
- Fraksete is behind a closed door about halfway into the fortress.
- A large portion of this dungeon can be skipped by jumping into the lava pool at the start of the fortress. Ignore the text saying to head to the east and go north to a tunnel leading to a point about two-thirds of the way up. Be warned, however, that this lava hurts – unless you're really good at hopping across sinking platforms, consider fire absorption.
The Traveler is right next to the portal to the Archons' fortress, disguised as a Lantern Archon. To his credit, he's nailed the Archons' unusual speech pattern, even if the green hat on a supposedly incorporeal creature gives him away somewhat.
