Banishment

From DDO wiki
Jump to navigation Jump to search
Name: Banishment
School: Abjuration (Untyped)
Primer: [[spells|]]
Spell Level: AotS 3 , Clr 6 , DarkA 6 , FvS 6 , Sor/Wiz 7 , Wlk 3 , Wild 7
Special:
Components: VerbalVerbal: A verbal component is a spoken incantation. You cannot cast spells that require this component if you cannot act or speak. Certain rare spells, such as Silence Creature, may temporarily disable spells that require verbal components., SomaticSomatic: A somatic component is a measured and precise movement of the hand. You cannot cast spells that require this component if you cannot move causing arcane spell failure resulting in a ruined spell. Spells without a somatic component may be used with disregard to Arcane Spell Failure chance. Note - that characters make the same arm gestures for most spells in DDO, so you can't tell which spells require this component by watching your character's animations., FocusFocus: A focus component is a prop of some sort. Unlike a material component, a focus is not consumed when the spell is cast and can be reused. This has no gameplay applications in DDO, as all characters are always considered to be carrying a focus component at all times and it does not require a inventory slot.
SLA:
Spell Point Cost: 35
Metamagic: Enlarge, Quicken
Target: Foe, Positional
Range: Standard AOE
Duration: Instantaneous
Saving Throw: Will negates
DC:
Spell Resistance: Yes
Cooldown: 15 seconds (All except sor), 10 seconds (Sor)

Description

Allows casting a more powerful version of the Dismissal spell on multiple targets. A successful Will save negates this effect. (DC = spell's save DC - creature's Hit Die + caster level.) In addition banishment deals 1d3+3 untyped damage per caster level to all targets on a successful will save.

Notes

This spell is only of use against Extraplanar creatures. It has no effect on other creatures - they are immune to both the instakill effect and the untyped damage. The instakill effect also does not work on Orange (on Epic Hard or above), Red, or Purple named monsters, although it is unaffected by Deathblock.
