The Eye of Mabar is kept in a chapel located near where the kingdom of Breland borders the Mournlands. Reports indicated that a Mabar manifest zone has recently appeared, suggesting that the powerful artifact has been disturbed.

Tips and Misc

  • To complete this quest, you need to explore the chapel first, then head across to the blockaded hamlet and clear it. This is fairly linear, although once you get to the main square, the stairs down to the prison under the well can be tricky to spot.
  • The enslaved villagers can be found in three places:
    • In a sealed root cellar – head north after the ambush and look for a lever in the east alley.
    • In the stockade prison behind the locked gate – you'll need the key from the root cellar or just pick it.
      • Brother Lortz, one of the captives, will explain a little more about the situation.
    • Under the well (this location is also needed to advance the quest, via a lever inside the cell.)
  • The notes are in four places:
    • In the chapel, on the altar.
    • To the north of the ambush, near the root cellar.
    • On a platform in the main square.
    • On the east wall of the path north from the main square (mind the pit trap.)
  • You can break the quest by killing the ambush too fast
  • Keep going down after visiting the prison under the well and you'll find a chest. It's locked, and guarded by several blade traps – these only fire once each.
  • Nearly everything in this quest is Undead. Light and positive damage are advised, poison and negative are not. Divine casters should be warned that one boss is a powerful Quell.
  • The Skeletons are not very clever, and will often get caught in their own bear traps. Use this to your advantage.
  • In the final boss room, the skeleton archers can be triggered and pulled out of the room before activating the boss. This is advisable on Reaper difficulties, as it also lets you deal with any Reapers that may spawn without the boss attacking you as well.
  • After visiting the chapel, you'll run into a mysterious elf in a green hat who helpfully tells you about the undead blockading the hamlet. This elf is in fact the Traveler, the sole beneficent member of The Dark Six, who appears to have taken an interest in you – he'll make appearances throughout the rest of the chain.
  • After defeating the blockade (including archers) at the hamlet's entrance a red mist appears around the mausoleum in the graveyard. Walking into the mist summons several ghouls; when these are slain, a red-named Wight appears. Slaying it grants an optional and a chest (minor bug: the optional currently has no name.)
