Tips and Misc
There are various Mysterious Paintings around; they'll all take you to the large painting behind the Baroness and Prince of Frost.
Required steps:
- First, talk to Ausha, the Court Advisor.
Ausha is located on the Windward Balcony (top floor, west side). To unlock the Balcony, you must pull two levers:
- One in the Baroness' Salon. The salon is accessible through the North door on the upstairs level (unmarked on map (located west of "Cellar Entrance", labeled "Palace North Wing" when you select it). Once through this door, you'll see "Baroness' Salon" to the west on your map.
- One in the Treasure Vault in the Cellar, which is through the North door on the ground level ("Cellar Entrance" on the map). There are multiple ways to unlock the vault:
- You can use a social skill on the headwaiter to lie (bluff), intimidate (intimidate), or persuade (diplomacy) your way past
- You can just pick the door (Lock DC).
- You can ask the headwaiter if there's any way to change his mind. Note that if you use a social skill, you can no longer pick up this optional.
- This option requires you to take a nap (/sleep) on a couch in the north, across from the Garden.
- Whichever method you choose, you'll still have to deal with the guards inside the Vault itself.
- There is a Mysterious Painting close to each lever, providing quick teleport back to the Wintertide Ballroom.
After both levers are pulled, go to the Windward Balcony. Speak to Ausha to unlock the Garden doors using Diplomacy, Intimidate, or Spellcraft checks; a success will convince him to unlock it for you, but if you fail, you'll have to fight him.
- Second, pick a "Frosted Cerise" in the Aurora Garden.
-
- Optional: Speak to Squire Icebrook, found in the southwest corner of the upper level, to deliver a message to the Baroness.
- The Aurora Garden is in the large room visible on the map east of the Wintertide Ballroom, accessible through either the north or south door on the ground level (both labeled "Aurora Garden Entrance" on the map).
- After picking the Cerise, you'll be trapped inside the Garden. If you can't Dimension Door, then climb a snowy staircase in the northwest and shatter a sheet of ice blocking the door.
- Return to the Wintertide Ballroom and talk to the Prince and Baroness.
- Third, question the Eladrin Nobles for clues.
- First, speak to Lady Lazuli in the Wintertide Ballroom.
- Sir Snowdrift is in the Gamesters' Lounge, south side of the ground floor.
- A secret door (Secret Door DC) in the southeast corner in the Gamesters' Lounge reveals a spiral stair with a back way into the South Wing.
- Lord Beryl is in a side room in the Cellar (Cellar entrance, ground floor north side, then look in the room marked Cellar Kitchen on your map).
- Dame Allegra is just inside the Prince's Quarters, at the far East of the map past the Aurora Garden.
- Optionals and chest (named items): Go all the way east to the Prince's quarters. A small fountain on the south wall has a lever that opens a secret door on the east wall.
- Shoot the orb that is being held by the statue in the Prince's secret chamber, and read the "preserved journal" that falls out (+20% XP).
- Kill the Frost Giant (+20% XP), the redcaps are not necessary to kill.
- There is a Mysterious Painting next to Dame Allegra, but it's faster to run back west to the garden.
- Fourth, collect a real Frosted Cerise flower.
- Return to the Aurora Garden on the north side
- Confront "Dame Allegra", who in a totally unpredictable turn of events is actually Condescending Cadence.
- Fight the Shambling Cerise and pick the Frosted Cerise from the center of the Aurora Garden.
Return to the Ballroom and talk to the Baroness for quest completion and end chest.
Notes:
- You can find out what happened to the Baron by reading three notes in his quarters in the South Wing.
