Tips and Misc

  • A series of strikes on Illithid commanders has allowed the Twelve to determine the rough location of an Illithid strongpoint. Your friend Cellimas Villuhne has disappeared while investigating a possible lead, and you've set out for her last known location, a Silver Flame pilgrim encampment, to seek answers. What you find instead is a clearing full of empty tents.
  • Head inside the temple and slay the Silver Flame Acolyte, who has been brainwashed into seeing you as an enemy of his faith.
  • In the next room, you're jumped by several waves of Silver Flame worshippers. It's in this fight that you'll discover why this quest is rated as extreme challenge, as each wave introduces one more special enemy type to make your life awkward.
  • The first two waves of this room are fairly easy, but be aware the Templar raises the attack damage of her allies. In order, the next three waves introduce the Silver Flame Wound-Healer, who heals damaged enemies nearly instantly, the Shield-Keeper, who vastly increases the damage absorption of his allies (they will take just 5% of any applied damage), and the Life-Caller, who can do something previously unheard of in DDO – cast Raise Dead and bring their slain allies back!
    • Be warned that once this fight starts, you will get no breaks until the fifth and final wave is dead. Try leaving a single Archer alive at the end of a wave if you need to heal.
  • From now on, every fight in the quest will have one each of these special enemies, so be sure to target them first – in the order Shield-Keeper → Life-Caller → Shield-Keeper (again, if raised) → Wound-Healer. Only once all special enemies are dead should you start attacking the standard mobs. (Note that special enemies can sometimes target each other – this is unreliable, but consistent within a particular fight, so you might, for example, find a Life-Caller raising a Shield-Keeper, but leaving a Wound-Healer dead. In the event a Wound-Healer heals one of their specialist allies, they should instead be killed first.)
  • While a Shield-Caller is in play, all enemies are intangible, allowing you to walk through them. This mitigates a problem with the original quest where it was easy to get trapped "body-surfing" on top of a heap of invincible enemies if you jumped. (For a demonstration of the issue, see Cordovan's first run of Pilgrims' Peril here: Watch on YouTube!)
    Tile puzzle - north path
  • Your path now forks in two directions, leading to two fights and two puzzles – a standard mirror puzzle and a tile puzzle linked to a Light trap.
    • Behind a secret door in the Mirror room, players may find a Glabrezu behind a magical barrier sustained by a mysterious orb. Deactivating the orb naturally leads to a fight with the demon. This is a fairly tough fight, as Glabrezu are hard hitters in general, but at least there are no trash mobs or special mechanics to worry about. The chest from this fight may drop augments and cards for the Deck of Many Curses.
  • Finally, with the door open, head east and talk to a mind-controlled Cellimas, who you must then knock unconscious. Afterwards, you can head up to a nearby room to fight the Illithid Qarazmar. Qarazmar has a rather larger power set than the standard Mind Flayer, and also becomes invulnerable twice during the fight to summon more thralls.
