Hats[edit]
Overview
You can purchase pirate hats from the Euphonia's Hat Box for Doubloons. These bartered hats are Bound to CharacterBound to Character: This item is Bound to Character. 3 styles of these hats are also sold via the DDO Store for 200-400 DDO Points - those are Bound to AccountBound to Account: This item is Bound to Account (and remain Bound to Account when upgraded).
Hats have 4 types of upgrades available to them, and each version of hat can equally be upgraded in any or all 4 lines of upgrades. The different hats differ only in appearance and initial "Scallawag's luck", one of the 4 types of upgrades. The cheapest version of pirate's hat, the Swabby's Kerchief, with all the Scallywag's Luck upgrades below will be functionally identical to the most expensive, the Dread Admiral's Tricorne, but will only cost 2000 Copper, 750 Silver, 375 Gold Doubloons (vs. 2,500 C, 1,250 S, 625 G). Thus the only final difference is cosmetic. Since the Doubloons are relatively easy to come by (simply by killing pirates outside the challenge), you may wish to just pick the one you think looks the best.
The 4 lines of upgrades, which are all available to all hats, are:
- Scallawag's Luck
- This increases the amount of doubloons gathered while hunting pirates in Smuggler's Rest by 10-35%. It does not increase doubloons gathered outside Smuggler's Rest while under the effects of Pirate's Grog.
Different styles of hats start with different levels of Scallawag's luck (see below), but all hats can be upgraded to +35%, the maximum.
- Crystal Rush (aka Kobold Buffs)
- This gives one of a variety of possible buffs (your choice) to the kobolds in the Crystal Cove Challenge as well as any other Challenges.
- Adventuring Bonus
- This is a standard item enchantment, consisting of an Ability boost, Fortification, False Life, Wizardry, or other enchantment. This works both in the challenge and in all questing. This enchantment sets a minimum level for the hat.
- Skilled Seaman
- This gives a skill bonus to the item, in any one skill of your choice except Spellcraft or Use Magical Device. This works both in the challenge and in all questing. This enchantment sets a minimum level for the hat.
Available hats[edit]
All hats are (equally) upgradeable. All hats bartered from Euphonia's Hatbox are Bound to Character. Pirate Hats purchased via the DDO Store are Bound to Account. (Non-Pirate Store hats are not eligible for these upgrades!)
- Swabby's Kerchief (a simple bandana) - 500 Copper Doubloons
- This Bandana makes you want to go ARRRGH. Wearing it will increase your chance to get Doubloons by 10%.
- Freebooter's Bandana (a striped bandana) - 1,000 Copper Doubloons
- You're no mere swabby. Yarr! Wearing it will increase your chance to get Doubloons by 15%.
- Corsair's Skullcap (a striped bandana with skull brooch) - 1,500 Copper, 750 Silver Doubloons
- The skull shows everyone that you're not the one to be messed with. Arr! Wearing it will increase your chance to get Doubloons by 20%.
- Captain's Chapeau (a feathered hat) - 2,000 Copper, 1,000 Silver Doubloons
- You've certainly earned the feather in your cap. Wearing it will increase your chance to get Doubloons by 25%.
- Admiral's Tricorne (an admiral's hat) - 2,500 Copper, 1,250 Silver, 625 Gold Doubloons
- Anyone who said that the size of your hat doesn't matter must be wearing a bandana. Wearing it will increase your chance to get Doubloons by 30%.
- Dread Admiral's Tricorne (an admiral's hat with skull brooch) - 3,000 Copper, 1,500 Silver, 750 Gold Doubloons
- This hat grants over 9000 skull factor. Wearing it will increase your chance to get Doubloons by 35%.
No longer (easily) available...
- The Admiral of Bling
- [Obtained only through turning in a PAX East Swag Bag Voucher]
- Flashy, ostentatious, AND completely over the top. This pirate hat is too powerful to accept dyes, so don't even try. Wearing it will increase your chance to get Doubloons by 35%.
Characters created prior to February 22, 2011 received a Birthday Parrrrty Invitation, a voucher for a free cap.
Hat upgrades[edit]
You can choose one line from each section (Kobold buffs, Adventuring, and Skills), plus Scallawag's Luck (Default is based on the type of hat)

Bottomless Flask of Rum[edit]
This enchanted flask swells with an eternal wellspring of rum.
Notes:
- These flasks are no longer available from Euphonia's Barter Box as of Update 39 - instead they can be purchased in the Rook's Gambit via the "Dusty Old Treasure of Crystal Cove" Chest (NE Corner, hidden behind the barrels)
- All versions Bound to CharacterBound to Character: This item is Bound to Character on acquire.
- Although they are not exclusive, all eternal flasks share the same eternal flask timer, so having more than one does not accomplish much.
- The Tier 11 "Heal" effect only restores HP and does not currently provide the other benefits of Heal like removing status effects.
- Seems to break invisibility when used.
- The costs listed below are NOT cumulative. The upgrade recipe for each tier (except the first) requires the bottle at the previous tier. You cannot create tier 11 directly, you must buy each Tier before purchasing the next.
