Magus of the Eclipse[edit]

Description[edit]

Magus of the Eclipse is an Epic Destiny tree with a focus on Cold Damage, Negative Damage, and some DC and Spell Penetration aspects. It was introduced in Update 51, replacing Magister.

Core Abilities[edit]

Touched by the Moon.png
Touched by the Moon: You gain the Magical Training feat. Each core of this tree, including this one, grants the following:
  • +1 Epic bonus to all Spell DCs
  • +1 Spell Penetration
  • +50 Maximum Spell Points
  • +5 Cold, Negative, and Force spell power and +5 Universal Spell Power

Deepening Arcana.png
Deepening Arcana: You gain a +10% Destiny bonus to Maximum Spell Points, and your Echoes of Power now restores up to 30 Spell Points. This ability does not stack with other Epic Destiny abilities (such as Deepening Faith from Exalted Angel) that modify your Echoes of Power.

Nullmagic Aura.png
Nullmagic Aura: Your comprehension of the arcane allows you to unravel spells at the base level, before they do any harm. When activated, for 20 seconds, you and allies near you are immune to harmful spells. Cooldown: 2 minutes

Nightwind: +3 spell penetration. Enemies who enter your Cold or Dark Light zone have a 5% chance to be Frozen for 10 seconds with no saving throw.

  • Gloomspear.png Gloomspear (Epic Strike): Single-target SLA, 1d8+8 Negative Damage per caster level and applies 3 stacks of Shattermantle. Cooldown 6 seconds, cost 5 SP

Frostlight.png
Frostlight: Magus of the Eclipse Destiny Mantle: You take half damage from Cold and, if you are not Undead, take half from Negative. If you are Undead, you take half damage from Light instead. This does not stack with Fire Shield: Cold or Cold Energy Sheathe.

Self or Summons: Multiselector:
  • Grand Summoner: Your summons, pets, and hirelings gain +4 to all ability scores, increased health, 100% Fortification, and a 40% increase to movement speed. Stacks with Augment Summoning and similar effects.
  • Impregnable Mind: +2/4/6 Will saves and concentration. Rank 3: you no longer fail Will saves on a 1

Call Upon Animated Armor.png
Call Upon: Active Ability: (Cooldown 60 seconds) Summon an epic (CR20) creature to aid you. Multiselector:
  • Call Upon Animated Armor.png Animated Armor - reasonable health and damage, pretty similar to a Skeletal Knight.
  • Call Upon Dream Reaver.png Dream Reaver - high magic resistance, so good against casters.
  • Call Upon Gargoyle.png Gargoyle - similar to the animated armour, but slower. Can regenerate some health on its own.
  • Call Upon Golem.png Golem — can be an iron, flesh, stone or clay golem; this is randomly selected each time. High hit points and good elemental resistance, but has trouble dealing damage. Note that iron, flesh and clay golems are healed by a particular damage type (fire, electric and acid respectively) which can be useful against enemies that use that damage type.
  • Call Upon Lich.png Lich — hate magnet, can be healed by PM auras, randomly casts Disintegrate, Fireball, Fear and Magic Missile.
  • Call Upon Living Meteor Swarm.png Living Meteor Swarm — high AoE damage, but low hit points. Runs out of spell points quickly, so needs to be frequently resummoned.
  • Call Upon Succubus.png Succubus - uses Charm Monster spells. Useful for crowd control, but has low hit points and not much help against bosses.

Cold Light of the Moon.png
Moonlight: Multiselector:
  • Cold Light of the Moon.png Cold Light of the Moon: Creates a lingering AOE of moonlight. Deals 3d6 Cold Damage plus 2 per Caster Level to enemies inside the zone every 2 seconds. The zone lasts for 10 seconds. 25 second cooldown.
  • Dark Light of the Moon.png Dark Light of the Moon: Creates a lingering AOE of moonlight. Deals 3d6 Negative Damage plus 2 per Caster Level. to non-undead enemies inside the zone every 2 seconds The zone lasts for 10 seconds. 25 second cooldown.
Does not break invisibility when used.

Frostlight Improvement I: Multiselector:
  • Chill Aura.png Chill Aura: While in your Magic of the Eclipse Destiny Mantle, enemies within melee range take 1d6+6 Cold damage per Caster Level and 1d6+6 Negative damage per Caster Level every 6 seconds. If an enemy would heal from either of these effects, they do not take the damage.
  • Icon Flash of the Eclipse.png Flash of the Eclipse: While in your Magic of the Eclipse Destiny Mantle, your Cold and Negative spells have a chance to blast your target for an additional 1d6+6 damage per Character Level of the same type as the spell used, as well as applying one stack of Shattermantle. Each element and the Stattermantle application can only strike once every 5 seconds, tracked separately.

  • Icon Intelligence.png When using Arcane Insight Gain 200% of your Intelligence in Temp Spell points that last 60 seconds and the cool downs of all Words of Power Reset. (Power Word:Blind, Stun and Kill.)
  • WisdomColored.png When using Arcane Insight Gain 200% of your Wisdom in Temp Spell points that last 60 seconds and the cool downs of all Words of Power Reset.
  • Icon Charisma.png When using Arcane Insight Gain 200% of your Charisma in Temp Spell points that last 60 seconds and the cool downs of all Words of Power Reset.

Lunar Imbuement: When you hit an enemy with Moon Lance or Gloomspear, you gain +5 Cold, Negative, Force and Universal Spell Power for 12 seconds. These spells also now apply 5 stacks of Vulnerable.

Starlight.png
Starlight: Your Cold or Dark Light zone now has the following attributes:
  • Rank 1: Slows the movement of non-boss enemies that enter it by 20%
  • Rank 2: Adds 5% incorporeality to all allies inside the zone
  • Rank 3: On expiration, the zone explodes, dealing 3d20 + 6 per Caster Level of the relevant kind of damage to enemies within

Frostlight Improvement II: Multiselector:
  • Nullmagic Strike.png Nullmagic Strike: While in your Magus of the Eclipse Destiny Mantle, attacks you make an offensive spells you cast have a 15% chance to subject the target to a Dispel Magic effect, which may strip them of their magical protections, and will render them unable to cast spells and lose 4 Spell Resistance for 30 seconds..
  • Share the Light.png Share the Light: While your Magus of the Eclipse Destiny Mantle is active, your summons now also benefit from it. For the purpose of this skill, these summons have your Cold and Negative Spell Power.

Nullmagic Protection: When you are hit or missed by an enemy, there is a 6% chance that a burst of antimagic energy expands from your body. Nearby enemies are subject to a Dispel Magic effect, which may strip them of their magical protections, and will be rendered unable to cast spells and lose 4 Spell Resistance for 30 seconds.

Greater Beams.png
Greater Beams: When you use Moon Lance, the target must make a Will save (DC 20 + highest of INT, WIS, CHA modifier + the highest of your Evocation and Conjuration bonuses) or be Frozen for 12 seconds. When you use Gloomspear, the target must make a Will save (DC 20 + highest of INT, WIS, CHA modifier + Necromancy bonuses) or be Paralyzed for 12 seconds.

Lunar Studies: While in your Magus of the Eclipse Destiny Mantle, you gain Spell Resistance, Magic Resistance Rating, and Magic Resistance Rating Cap equal to 3 times the number of Metamagic feats you've acquired. This includes Metamagic Feats that are permanently enabled without costing additional Spell Points.

Time Stop.png
Time Stop (Epic Moment): Enemies in a small area are Paralyzed and Helpless with no save for 10 seconds. They cannot die in this state, but if they are below 0 HP when they leave this state, they die quickly affect the effect expires. Bosses and Raid Bosses are instead made vulnerable, taking +100% more damage from all sources except bane for 10 seconds. 5 minute cooldown.

  • Moons Shadow.png Moon's Shadow: Necromancy SLA. Hit target enemy with a miniature black hole for 1d6+28 negative damage per caster level (max caster level: 20). A successful Reflex save reduces the damage by half. Cooldown 18 seconds, cost 40 SP
  • Zero Degree Comet.png Zero Degree Comet: Evocation SLA. Hit target enemy with a falling chunk of ice for 1d6+28 cold damage per caster level (max caster level: 20). A successful Reflex save reduces the damage by half. Cooldown 18 seconds, cost 40 SP
