Certain rare spells, such as Silence Creature, may temporarily disable spells that require verbal components., SomaticIcon tooltip.pngSomatic: A somatic component is a measured and precise movement of the hand. You cannot cast spells that require this component if you cannot move causing arcane spell failure resulting in a ruined spell. Spells without a somatic component may be used with disregard to Arcane Spell Failure chance. Note - that characters make the same arm gestures for most spells in DDO, so you can't tell which spells require this component by watching your character's animations., MaterialIcon tooltip.pngMaterial: A material component is one or more physical substances or objects that are annihilated by the spell energies in the casting process. You must have the required items in your inventory. If you run out of the components, the game will not allow you to cast the spell and will instead inform you of what component is missing. The metamagic feat Eschew Materials and some enhancements in Draconic Incarnation can remove this restriction.

Sunburst causes a globe of searing radiance to explode silently from a point you select dealing to all creatures 1d6+4 points of light damage per caster level (Maximum caster level 25) in addition to blinding them. Oozes and Undead take double damage. A successful Reflex save reduces the damage by half and negates the condition Blinded. Light-fearing UndeadIcon tooltip.pngLight-fearing undead in DDO include: Vampires, Shadows, Spectres, Wraiths, and Forgewraiths. Although some other undead do take increased damage from light they will not be instantly destroyed by this spell. may be instantly destroyed by this spell if it fails its save.

A creature to which sunlight is harmful or unnatural sometimes takes double damage. This rule varies in DDO, as some enemies only take 150%.

As of Update 36 Patch 2, the blindness inflicted by this spell is no longer permanent.

Wizard Spell inscription : Requires Level VIII Inscription Materials.

Sunburst is a great spell to have for Too Hot to Handle, as it is one of the only effective ways of controlling Forgewraith numbers during said raid.

The fifth core of the Divine Disciple enhancement tree adds Sunburst to a Cleric's spellbook.
