Jump to navigation Jump to search
Name: Spike Growth
School: Transmutation (Thorn) (Piercing) (Physical)
Primer: [[spells|]]
Spell Level: Blc 3 , DarkH 2 , Drd 3 , Rgr 2
Special:
Components: SomaticSomatic: A somatic component is a measured and precise movement of the hand. You cannot cast spells that require this component if you cannot move causing arcane spell failure resulting in a ruined spell. Spells without a somatic component may be used with disregard to Arcane Spell Failure chance. Note - that characters make the same arm gestures for most spells in DDO, so you can't tell which spells require this component by watching your character's animations., VerbalVerbal: A verbal component is a spoken incantation. You cannot cast spells that require this component if you cannot act or speak. Certain rare spells, such as Silence Creature, may temporarily disable spells that require verbal components., Divine FocusDivine Focus: A divine focus component is an item of spiritual significance. The divine focus for a Cleric, Favored Soul, or Paladin is a holy symbol appropriate to the character’s faith. This has no gameplay applications in DDO, as all characters are always considered to be carrying a divine focus component at all times and it does not require a inventory slot.

Description

Creates hard and pointed vegetation that injures the feet and legs of enemies that pass over it, slowing movement and causing 1d4 piercing damage per caster level (max. 10d4) every 2 seconds. A successful Reflex save negates the slow effect and halves the damage.

Notes

  • Spell can be augmented to deal extra Piercing damage and Negative damage with the Every Rose has its Thorn and Defiled Growth enhancements respectively. Defiled Growth additionally changes this spell's visual effect.
    • Every Rose has its Thorn increases the Piercing Damage from 1d4 piercing damage per caster level to 2d4 piercing damage per caster level (But does not affect max caster level directly).
      • This also grants 15 PRR and MRR while standing inside any Spike Growth spell (even those cast by enemies or allies) while in Blighted Wolf, Thorn Kin, or Thorn Knight form.
    • Defiled Growth adds 1d4 Negative damage per caster level, scaling with 100% Negative spellpower. This damage applies once every two seconds to enemy creatures within the spell's range.
  • Spell can be augmented to deal extra Acid or Poison damage with the multiselector Coated Thorns enhancement.
    • Coated Thorns adds damage ONLY to "Thorns named spells" and Splinterbolt, so it doesn't work on Entangle or Spike Growth.
    • Vile Thorns adds +1 Acid damage per caster level, scaling with 100% of Acid spellpower.
    • Poisoned Thorns adds +2 Poison damage per caster level, scaling with 100% of Poison spellpower.
  • Flowers in the Thorns: Stepping inside a Spike Growth or Entangle spell, whether hostile or friendly, heals you for 1d3 hit points every 5 seconds per Character Level of the spell's owner. Note : Heal proc when you enter in The spell, not when you stay in.
