Name: Necrotic Ray
School: Necromancy (Negative Energy)
Level: Sor/Wiz 6
Spell Point Cost: 10
Components: SomaticIcon tooltip.pngSomatic: A somatic component is a measured and precise movement of the hand. You cannot cast spells that require this component if you cannot move causing arcane spell failure resulting in a ruined spell. Spells without a somatic component may be used with disregard to Arcane Spell Failure chance. Note - that characters make the same arm gestures for most spells in DDO, so you can't tell which spells require this component by watching your character's animations., VerbalIcon tooltip.pngVerbal: A verbal component is a spoken incantation. You cannot cast spells that require this component if you cannot act or speak. This has no gameplay applications in DDO, as all characters can always speak and there are no effects which prevent you from doing so.
Metamagic: Empower, Heighten, Maximize, Quicken
Range: Double
Target: Foe, Directional, Breakable
Duration: Instantaneous
Saving Throw: Fortitude save partial
Spell Resistance: No
Cooldown: 4 seconds (Wiz), 2 seconds (Sor)[UnverifiedIcon tooltip.png"2 seconds (Sor)" has not been verified in-game. Please verify it!]

Blast a living enemy with 1d6+12 negative energy damage per caster level up to 25d6+300 at caster level 25. A successful Fortitude save reduces the damage by half. The ray also suppresses the life force of any living creature it strikes, granting it 1 negative level.

D&D Dice: Deals 1d6+12 negative energy damage per caster level and bestows one negative level.

  • Unlike Death Aura, this spell does heal enemy undead, but cannot be used to heal Pale Master skeletons (they will show as "Invalid target").
