What to Expect
- Randomly placed switches (3) and valves (3)
- Spawning & respawning monsters
Known Traps
- There are spike traps throughout the East wing and electric traps throughout the West wing. Each array of traps is disabled by using three switches (spike) or valves (electric), not by control panels. The signal crystal valve at the end of each wing activates the respective traps. You can disable the traps before they are activated.
Tips and Misc
- Trap lever locations are semi-random and may be behind Secret doors or, in the East wing, behind pillars in alcoves.
- There are always 3 levers per trap, but there are 6 or 7 places where one could show up for each wing.
- One or two may appear in the alcoves near the gate with signal crystals, rather than within the wings.
- Secret Door DCs
- One strategy to avoid the traps without disabling them is to park a Hireling at the signal crystal valve at the end of a wing and return to central gate; have the hireling activate the valve, then recall the hireling. Repeat for the other wing and ignore the traps outright.
- A Kobold Thrower respawns every few minutes in an alcove in the East corridor of the East wing loop.
- Members of the missing party lie dead by the Shrines at the end of both the East and West wings; two will rise as Zombies in each location when approached.
- A pack of Dogs and Kobolds will spawn behind (ambush) the party as each signal crystal valve is approached. These are much less difficult to manage if dispatched before turning the valve or approaching the dead party members.
- Shaman Hyrassis (East wing) and/or Shaman Syssimar (West wing) may appear after activating the respective signal crystal; otherwise, a Troglodyte Shaman appears.
- Luring the Troglodyte boss out of the North wing with a single shot from ranged or thrown weapon can make the North wing fight easier. The 4 Kobold Shamans flanking the North wing shouldn't move and you can kill them after dealing with the boss, or just sneak or run past them for the chest, collectible, and exit.
- It is possible squeeze through the gap on the right side of the gate to the North wing prior to opening it.
- This is easy for smaller races (Halfling, Gnome, Dwarf) with a bit of wriggling.
- With persistence, can be achieved by all races, even Warforged, though it's a very tight and some may not be able to squeeze back out.
- The Kobold Shamans will spawn without the Troglodyte boss; killing them improves the boss fight later.
- The boss chest will be present, but locked, and is not pickable.
