Overview

DNT

Spoiler Warning: Spoiler material below this point!

Objectives

  • Read the note in the entrance hall
  • Explore the area
  • Pick up Seeds of Moander (4)
  • Place Seeds of Moander (4)
  • Destroy the Failed Vessel
  • (Optional) Read all the notes (5) — Bonus (20%): Heroic( ♥612 )

Tips and Misc

  • Moander the Jawed God is dead, slain by the legendary bard Finder Wyvernspur during the Time of Troubles. This hasn't prevented the ex-deity's most fanatical followers from enacting a variety of schemes to return him to life - and you've just stumbled across one of them.
  • If Moander's resurrection is to be stopped, you'll need to disrupt the ritual and trigger his awakening early before the vessel is ready to contain him. For this, you'll need to gather the four Seeds of Moander scattered around his temple.
  • As you might expect from the temple of a god of rot, the ruins of Moander's temple are filled with stuff you don't want to step in - pools of acid and Green Slime. Note that Green Slime can be safely destroyed with any AoE spell dealing Fire damage.
  • There are four seeds:
    • The first seed can be accessed by taking the portal in the entrance to the ruined room north of the first intersection. This room can't be reached by foot thanks to a ceiling collapse, although there is a secret door leading to an adjoining room. Note that this seed is pretty heavily guarded!
    • The second seed is north of the second intersection, guarded by a succession of Shambling Mounds - you can also get here from the first room via the secret door.
    • The third seed is south of the first intersection, past a giant pool of acid full of crumbling masonry. You'll need to pull four levers to unlock the gate to the seed. A Jump spell will really help if you want to avoid taking damage here, and Dimension Door will allow you to skip jumping all the way back afterwards.
    • The fourth seed is south of the second intersection. You'll need to solve a simple tile puzzle to pick it up.
      • There are two side rooms on the way to this seed. The first contains two secret doors - the one on the left leads to a trapped and locked chest and a collectable, while the one on the right just contains two Carrion Crawlers. (There's another secret door in the room with the seed, which doesn't appear to lead anywhere yet.)
      • The second side room is filled with rubble and contains a locked chest. Entering this room leads to an encounter with the Fire Beetle Rotfeeder.
  • Once you've picked up the four seeds, head east from the second intersection and place each one in a bowl. The first three seeds each summon a wave of enemies when placed, while the final seed summons the final boss, the Failed Vessel.
    • If planning on kiting the boss around, be aware that this room is filled with Green Slime pools and Wild Magic Zones - you may wish to clear the slime out first.
  • There are five notes for the optional:
    • The first note is in the entrance room - reading this one is required to progress.
    • A second note is found on the way to the second seed, north of the second intersection. (This note implies that the temple's cultists were slain by one of Myth Drannor's many wandering monsters.)
    • Another note is located in the room with the third seed, past the acid jumping section.
    • A fourth note lies next to the staircase leading to the tile puzzle containing the fourth seed.
    • The final note is inside the room with the giant pod.
