Description: The Green Dragon Zardanarith makes his lair on a rocky cliff near the bridge to Tanaroa, surrounded by the bones of slain dinosaurs and a tribe of Lizardfolk minions. As a Purple named enemy, Zardanarith is a brutally difficult opponent with a tonne of hit points. If looking to fight him, consider bringing a party.
Fighting Zardanarith
Zardanarith's lair can only be accessed by climbing a series of vine ladders on the North face of the cliff. You'll soon be able to establish if he is there, as the dragon will begin casting Flame Strike and raining venom from above, switching to physical attacks when an opponent reaches him.
Zardanarith is a powerful foe with highly damaging attacks and a huge number of hit points. There are, however, some ways to speed up his fight:
- Bring a Warforged or a Pale Master. Many of Zardanarith's most dangerous attacks cause Poison damage, which Constructs and Undead are immune to. A well-built character will be able to self-heal fast enough to shrug off the lower-damage Physical attacks, allowing weaker characters to duck out of the way and heal without fear of being hit with Flame Strike because there's nobody in melee range.
- Bring Neutralize Poison. Even a potion will dispel the stacking acid poison DoT and prevent further stacks for a duration.
- Bring a ranged weapon. Zardanarith will periodically fly up out of melee range and start casting spells from above.
- Bring suitable spells. Zardanarith is immune to fire and acid damage, as well as instant death spells and most crowd control, and he doesn't summon trash mobs, so characters currently using such spells will get little use out of them.
- Bring spell point regeneration items if using a spellcasting class. Even reaching the dragon requires you to fight through a number of Lizardfolk and the dragon takes a lot of damage to take down.
- Bring Feather Fall. Wing Buffet will knock somebody off the cliff at some point, and it's a long way down.
Zardanarith is unlikely to leave his central plateau, even when in flight. The platform is quite small, so kiting or dodging his attacks is out of the question - be prepared to take a lot of damage, as this is a fairly protracted fight even with a full party.
Characters that manage to slay the mighty dragon on Epic will be rewarded with a chest that contains many crafting ingredients, including Black Pearls, and a random Dinosaur Bone weapon.
