UI skins[edit]

You can use skins to modify the default user interface in DDO.

Getting skins[edit]

Installing skins[edit]

  • Locate your "Dungeons and Dragons Online" folder in your "Documents" area under Windows
  • In the "Dungeons and Dragons Online" folder, create a folder called "ui" (all lowercase)
  • In the "ui" folder, create a "skins" folder (all lowercase)
  • Download the skin from a third-party site (see list above).
  • Skins usually come as a zip file. Extract the content to a new folder.
  • Copy the folder with your new skin to this folder. For example, in the case of BlackBird, it should be in the C:\Users\<USERNAME>\Documents\Dungeons and Dragons Online\ui\skins\BlackBird folder.

Switching skins[edit]

  • Start DDO, log in, and load a character.
  • Press Escape to open the main menu, then select Options.
  • Go to UI Settings tab and search for "skin".
  • Select your skin in the parameter Current User Skin.

Creating skins[edit]

  1. Download recent art pack from https://www.lotrointerface.com/downloads/cat40.html.
  2. ...

Large resolution displays[edit]

DDO interface does not allow for scaling. As a result, it can be pretty hard to see the buttons and icons at extreme resolutions, because the controls are simply too small.

Fortunately, some ways exist that work for at least some players to alleviate the situation:

  • Font size can be changed in-game: Options > UI Settings tab > Chat Font.
  • There seems to be a Windows setting that might help: DDO Forums
  • Workaround: decrease the resolution of your display
  • 4K Readable UI & 4Klike Graphics
