About the guild[edit]

isn't that too personal to describe the guild - Death Smile? -- Targal (ContribsMessage) 01:10, June 29, 2020 (EDT)

  • I agree that it does not belong here. Cru121 (ContribsMessage) 04:31, June 29, 2020 (EDT)
  • It's a limited time event - the idea is to list all guilds that have resources and are accepting members to make it easier for people to find resources to help them succeed on Hardcore. Feel free to add other guilds, their recruiting policy, and any resources they have to offer. DDOstream (ContribsMessage) 09:23, July 1, 2020 (EDT)
  • According to the Editing guideline, guild information belongs to User namespace. Cru121 (ContribsMessage) 11:43, July 1, 2020 (EDT)
    • Also according to the guideline (which needs to be cleaned and rid of the "personal flair"), "Everything related to DDO" belongs in the "(Main)" space. As far as the language "unlike other MMO wikis, we don't host such pages under (Main) namespace, so this kind of stuff should go to your own user page." goes, it's talking pages about "specific guild" type pages, not a guilds section on a server, that's temporary and this information would be relevant for the 90ish days the server is available as opposed to "live" servers where the information could become irrelevant/incorrect and never be wiped. There should be a list of HCL guilds for the season available in the Guilds section on the page. I'll be readding the information as I find it. Thanks! • Good luck maintaining this temporary information. Anyway, when you edit the editing guideline to prove your point, I feel that my participation in this discussion is no longer necessary. Cru121 (ContribsMessage) 13:28, July 8, 2020 (EDT)
* '''User''' - About you; this is your own stub, your own experimental pages, your characters, and guilds. We once had pages to list in-game characters and guilds, but pages went way too obsolete and messy so we ended up deleting them all (woo...). Unlike other MMO wikis, we don't host such pages under (Main) namespace, so this kind of stuff should go to your own user page.
became a clearer
* '''User''' - About you; this is your sandbox and where information about you, your characters, and projects should go.
** Pages to listing characters and guilds quickly become obsolete and messy and should not be added.
** Guild pages should not be hosted on DDOwiki, but you may link to them from your character sub-pages.

"The server is now closed" announcement[edit]

To C-Hounds point, it does seem to be a bit of a contradiction to have an announcement that "The server is now closed" followed almost immediately by "the current ... Server will remain open". I can see how the use of these specific terms can lead to confusion. Perhaps an update to the wording in the announcement, such as "The current hardcode season has ended" or "The server is open (for transfers only)" may be appropriate? 75.131.241.241 (Message • Block • Check) 13:17, December 1, 2022 (EST)

  • Well, as the template is set up, its only options are "the season ends in X days" or "the season has ended". I agree that the current wording is rather confusing, but I don't understand the template well enough myself to add a third option, so adding that note was the best I could do. I'll see if I can work an option in for the next season (with the three days we have left on the current season, probably isn't an immediate priority.)
