So, I'm just about to hit level 12, and I'm looking ahead at what free quests are available... um, yeah, not much. How does a F2P get to level 20? There's seems to be a seriously lack of free XP sources above level 12. Somewhat related question: do raids suffer the usual XP penalty for repeating? Since they are designed to be repeated (every 20th run for bonus loot, etc), I just wondered (Tempest Spine could be milked for a while this way... but still not enough to get to 20, I don't think).

There is no way for a F2P to hit level 20 without spending his or her Turbine Points wisely. Raids still have a repetition penalty, only the Crystal Cove event has no penalty Wink Neouni 05:26, August 6, 2011 (EDT)

I disagree with the claim made by Neouni (Contribs • Message), that there is no way to cap a toon solely on F2P content.. I think it is possible, however, would require the player to be a first life toon and very wisely acquire XP be running each quest on Solo, Normal, Hard, Hard, Elite, Elite.. I also believe that it would have required banking a few of the lower levels and exhausting the available XP.. There are four F2P wildernesses which are often overlooked by Non-F2P toons that would have required excessive farming.. Bottom line.. If you run one toon on each server to 1k Favor, buy content with your free turbine points.. Gianthold and The Vale are the first two recommended packs.. You may need to favor farm some other servers to get the the Turbine points to acquire these two packs from where you currently are.. I had a toon on Argonessen that I ran up to level 18.2 before stalling out solely running F2P content, and had I know what I know now, I could've capped him.Big Grin ShoeMaker 15:26, August 8, 2011 (EDT)

Yea you can defintely cap a F2P character. Tons of players have already done so. Given the fact every dungeon in the game has unlimited XP (well within 7 levels), you could do it in a single dungeon. Sure you start to get extreme repeat penalties and get very little XP.. But really a first life character simply doesn't need that much XP to cap, and there are plenty of free to play quests. I don't think even heavy repetition is really neccasary these days. You can likely do each quest once on each difficulty and get there.. As long as you careful to get full xp bonuses, and grind out a bit in adveture areas it definetely doable. It's actaully quite easy up to around lvl15. After that, you do start to become very limited on quests and will start to feel like quite a grind, but still quite doable.

Also keep in mind just by doing every F2P quest on elite, you'll get enough free turbine points for at least 1 big pack, or 2-3 smaller packs, to add to your XP.→ Shade 15:32, August 8, 2011 (EDT)

i have seen quest diary done by a veteran player capping his toon solely by FTP quests somewhere. yea its possible, but its for experienced players only too though. maybe i can dig that up.

gah, he had Vale and Reavers Refuge pack. but here it is. its interesting... but yea, i can certainly see that its going to be a challenge without those packs at levels 16-20 → yoko5000 21:39, August 8, 2011 (EDT)

Judging by the way the new poll is going .. Vale will be 50% off soon, well within the reach of a F2P'er who gets lots of favor. So yea great time to give it a go.

The new hard/elite and bravery bonuses should be a huge help in this, if you can get and keep that elite streak going... and you can even break off and hit Hard/Normal for the relevant first time bonuses, after Elite LrdSlvrhnd 03:26, October 16, 2011 (EDT)
  • Just in case anyone comes across this for info. This thread is irrelevant. There is no longer a limit on quest repetition, and the F2P MotU chain starting with "Lords of Dust" can easily bring a character from level 12 to 20 via Casual - Elite. • Well, this discussion was from 2011, it is only reasonable it is probably outdated. Since talk page discussions typically have time stamps, it is unnecessary to tell people reading a 3 year old thread that the thread is three years old.
