Comparison to Enlightened Spirit discussion[edit]

This one...it's a hard sell vs Enlightened Spirit. Being hard forced into Fire pact damage knowing a notable amount of enemies are immune to it, losing the Shining Through HP shield and the flat immunity to many Knockdowns/Trips...sure you do get somewhat stronger passive defenses and there is an alternate option within Epic Destinies to make up for losing Resist Energies, plus better Saving Throw boosts, but still...this one overall still seems notably more fragile. Really hard to determine which is the better option, you really have to carefully plan out your build including into Epic levels to make it worth it. • Do bear in mind the tree has a way to bypass fire immunity at higher levels, plus the tree synergises better with the archetype than Enlightened Spirit would. The archetype in general does take an awful lot of variety away, though - it looks like Eldritch Blast is pretty much all it can do. PurpleSerpent (ContribsMessage) 07:13, February 23, 2023 (EST)
  • Bypass immunity? Where? I already have the Hellfire enhancement on a test character, that does NOT get through Immunity, I tested it. Kiljaedenas (ContribsMessage) 11:51, February 23, 2023 (EST)
  • I think that the subjective comparison of ES vs AotS enhancements belongs somewhere else. Maybe move it to "Starting a Warlock" page or tactics page. Include a link if you feel strongly about it. Cru121 (ContribsMessage) 01:24, February 24, 2023 (EST)
  • I disagree, given they are mutually exclusive trees having an immediate comparison between them available right from the start for anyone reading through the guides is valid. General discussions like here are a good place for stuff like this. Kiljaedenas (ContribsMessage) 01:52, February 24, 2023 (EST)
  • Well, this is not a guide. This is a transcript of the enhancements in this tree. Traditionally, we do include additional stuff like bugs and a bit extra detail if the descriptions are not intuitive, but not this amount of extras. I could see this being a valuable point when "starting a warlock" for a potential new section "lock vs acolyte - what should I choose". MHO Cru121 (ContribsMessage) 13:37, February 24, 2023 (EST)

Blast Beam form analysis[edit]

This really drives home the concept of "ease of application" in regards to damage output; it really isn't much better than Focused. In terms of dropping enemies and destructibles even Chain form outperforms it for general purpose use because of how much easier it is to apply damage to multiple targets in a spread out formation, and against a single target Focused Form actually does more damage since it doesn't lose a pact die. This is a skippable form. Kiljaedenas (ContribsMessage) 01:56, February 24, 2023 (EST)
