Heart of Netheril was an adventure pack initially planned to conclude the Netheril storyline in the Forgotten Realms. It would have seen players exploring the desert of Anauroch and the ancient Netherese city of Thultanthar, facing off with Netheril's strongest wizards, the alien phaerimm, and possibly even the dread Tarrasque itself. However, with sales of the Netheril content rather underperforming, SSG announced in its 2014 producer's letter that the planned release of Heart of Netheril was shelved in favor of The Temple of Elemental Evil, and the storyline was later abandoned altogether, leaving behind only a test build of unreleased raid It Came From the Desert, which was itself cut from the game in Update 28.
