Maximum Damage for Traps?[edit]

Has anyone calculated the maximum damage the traps deal for each difficulty? This information would be super helpful for Hardcore server participants, in case they lack a trapper and need to estimate how many hit points are needed to safely "eat" the trap damage. Thanks! -- Dulcimerist (ContribsMessage) 01:33, April 14, 2021 (EDT)

  • I haven't calculated the damage. However, I remember on Elite for Hardcore III the traps did well over 150 HP damage and likely over 200 HP damage on my Barbarian. Possibly close to 300 HP. The problem with this trap; when at higher difficulty, is you'll get hit several separate times! Possibly over ten separate times by a specific trap damage type, which possibly is around 20 HP per hit, but once multiplied by ten or whatever, the damage potential is immense. Remember that's just for taking one single item away from: one single pedestal.
I wouldn't recommend randomly lifting items on Elite on Hardcore unless you were thoroughly prepared, etc. The damage from Hard was nowhere near that of Elite. I wasn't expecting the scaling and multiplication; of each individual node, when not within localized range for Elite.

  • For amusement: today, I just rolled a Level 4 Barbarian (115 HP); CON 16, DEX 10. Barbarian starter gear only, no Guild, no Elemental Resistance potions, no Tomes, and no buffs, etc. Neither did I use my 'Uncanny Dodge' so certainly "under geared" and she would likely Fail all trap saves. Not much better than naked.
On Normal setting, she took 65 HP total damage during one run for a single Pedestal trigger... However, in contrast on Elite the majority of the "failed saves" were doing: 70-90 HP damage per node, I did see one do 96 HP. So it wouldn't surprise me if they could do about 100 HP (per roll). NB: Given that you have to do around 8 or more saves; it easily could do 500+ HP damage per single pedestal. Even 5 saves causing 70 HP (5×70), would be 350 HP I think the pedestals force you to take around 8-10 saves each.
I did manage to record; 370 HP damage, from one single pedestal, but it likely would do more than that because of course I was already dead by that stage LOL. ;-)
