Gatekeepers' Grove

If quest is available he will reply:

• Orinus Arundul: It was chaos! Devils everywhere! The Portable Hole smashed to bits!
• Orinus Arundul: And the Transfinite Compass. They took the Compass!
• You: I can take care of those Devils for you.
  • Orinus Arundul: I will send you to the Portable Hole. Perhaps you can recover the Transfinite Compass. And if not, perhaps you can help any wizards still trapped there.
  • Orinus Arundul: There was one fellow who refused to leave. He kept droning on and on about saving his manuscript. Absurd! Any fool can see the Compass is more important than some pedant's scribblings, if only because the Compass....
  • You: Just hurry up and send me to the Portable Hole. <Quest Bestowed>
• You: Calm down. I can't help you if you don't explain what's going on.
  • Orinus Arundul: Yes, of course. A mundane such as yourself cannot be expected to understand matters of the arcane!
  • Orinus Arundul: There is a tavern for wizards and their kind called the Portable Hole. What makes it special is that it's not in Stormreach. Indeed, it's not anywhere at all! The tavern occupies a small pocket dimension, sustained by....
  • Orinus Arundul: But I digress. What matters is that a group of Devils attacked the Portable Hole. What is worse, the took my Transfinite Compass! I barely escaped with my life.
  • You: And what's so special about this Compass?
  • Orinus Arundul: The Transfinite Compass finds magical items. And not just nearby items, no indeed! The Transfinite Compass can find magic items in other Planes ... in fact, in any of the infinite Planes!
  • Orinus Arundul: It's quite the clever device. I had it made in Zilargo, you see, according to my own specifications....
  • You: Never mind that. Let's get back to the Portable Hole being attacked.
    • Orinus Arundul: I will send you to the Portable Hole. Perhaps you can recover the Transfinite Compass. And if not, perhaps you can help any wizards still trapped there.

Talking to him after acquiring the quest, but before completion, will make him say:

• Orinus Arundul: Return to the Portable Hole and take care of the Devils before they destroy it!

On completion of quest, he will congratulate you with the following:

• Orinus Arundul: My Compass! They still have my Compass!
• Orinus Arundul: At least the Portable Hole is still in one piece... many a night I've spent there, sipping a Dirty Kobold and discussing oneiromancy.... I suppose the least I can do for someone who save my favorite tavern is to give them this.

After completing the quest and taking the reward, if you talk to him again, he will reply:

• Orinus Arundul: The Devils have attacked the Portable Hole and taken my Transfinite Compass. Go there and teach them a lesson!
