- Fine I evoke Criteria for Instant deletion the files name were all typos and they violated the naming policy for past and future files. heh your stretching the rules a bit there.. I don't feel essence.jpg is a typo.. Just a lazy filename. You are correct it violates naming policy, but thats not a instantdelete reason.
While duplicates that dont match the naming policy are valid for deletion, i dont think they should be valid for instant deletion mainly because files take up a lot of space and should be criteria for more then "put it in the recycle bin to disable user access".
EG: I think we should make a "duplicate" template, and tag them all. Then every X months, we can do a review of them, to be 100% sure they are invalid duplicates, and then xevo can do a perm-delete of them.
Just instadeleting them just dumps them in the same category as thousands of other deleted pages/files.. Uncategorized, and completely unverified that they should be permanently gone.
Thing is, orphaned duplicate files don't really hurt anything. So i don't see the incentive to instadelete.
If you want to modify the instantdeletion policy, start a talk on the DDO wiki talk:Deletion policy, its still within its "2 week initial draft version", so quick changes can be made if we agree on them. I'd probably agree on some clearly defined variation of what you said.
anyways. My vote is yes i agree - delete, that makes 2 admins, so the deletion date is set to : April 25th assuming no one objects.
