Category talk:Bard spells
Spells common with other classes[edit]
Looks like there will be some overlap with cleric spells => need to see how much and decide on what to do (common page for instance) -- Tihocan 11:08, January 23, 2006 (PST)
- What I would prefer is to have a listing page as well as a more detailed page for each spell. In the case of multiple casters of one spell then just list them individually in the level line. I made Bulls strength over on dndwiki http://en.dndwiki.ws/Bull%27s_Strength and it works in my head as far as an organization scheme. -- koolkat 12:31, January 23, 2006 (PST)
- Well I'm all for a list and then a detailed description. Just wrote this as a remainder (mainly for myself) -- Tihocan 14:00, January 23, 2006 (PST)
- Taking a closer look to bard's spells, it looks like many of them are taken either from Cleric's spells or Wizard's spells. I think I'll just put in every list the other classes that get access to a spell (this is important when one modifies the description of one spell, so that he/she does not forget to modify it for other classes) -- Tihocan 14:10, January 23, 2006 (PST)
- All of the bards spells are duplicated in someones elses list. I would take out the mention that it is in someone elses list and just duplicate them. See what I did here to see if it elucidates my intentions: Cure Light Wounds -- koolkat 15:38, January 23, 2006 (PST)
- I completely agree it should be like that in the future. I had in mind to keep this mention at first, while the spell's description was still likely to change and there was no specific spell topic, so that someone does not modify it in one place and forget at another place. I suggest to remove the mention once the full spell description (like the one you wrote) is done. -- Tihocan 20:20, January 23, 2006 (PST)
- Well I guess the majority thinks there should be no such mentions, so I removed the few ones that were still there. -- Tihocan 07:23, January 24, 2006 (PST)
- arghhh cant figure out how to link between wiki's tried this [[DND:Bull's Strength]] but it didnt work. -- koolkat 12:33, January 23, 2006 (PST)
- I'd copy the content over as a basis- the implentation will be different, as will recommended usage. I don't see any reason to inter-wiki link unless you mean to talk about D&D stuff rather than D&D Online stuff... -- ArgleBargle 14:42, January 23, 2006 (PST)
- It's a small dnd - all interwiki prefixes are small. dnd:Bull's Strength (-: -- [:: ℑilver§ℑide ::] 20:26, January 23, 2006 (PST)
- Still didnt work I was trying to link to the spell and for some reason it just goes to a blank page http://en.dndwiki.ws/Bull%E2%80%99s_Strength is the URL though. -- koolkat 20:37, January 23, 2006 (PST)
- You're not using the same ' character. I suggest you use ' instead of the one you used -- Tihocan 20:40, January 23, 2006 (PST)
- What the heck ' is that? Using the ' from the same key as " (which I considered the normal apostrophy...? oO) I can't find the Bull's Strength page.. although typing "bull strength" into the search finds a similar titled page... --Uky 20:44, January 23, 2006 (PST)

- The Bull's strength thing is an error because a rogue admin (the frenchie) deleted the page - I will fix it. (-: -- [:: ℑilver§ℑide ::] 00:24, January 24, 2006 (PST)
- I deleted it??? Sorry if I did, must have been a mistake, as I don't remember about it. About the ': in Windows, if you use IE for instance, go over SilverSide's link and yours, and notice the ' character is not the same (either in the url that appears next to your cursor, or at the bottom of IE, you'll see the HTML codes are different). -- Tihocan 07:29, January 24, 2006 (PST)
- Do not mention that monstrosity - that is causing me hundreds of hours of work to make the new EnterWIki 2.0 work. Everything was fine and dandy until I tested it in IE for the final preview - and *BAM* everything broken. And I didn't mean you tihocan, I meant kirochi ^^? -- 66.58.239.135 09:03, January 24, 2006 (PST)

Silvers' Changes[edit]
Bah, ok all - I made some major changes. Remember, be bold is the motto here - make the changes, then somebody might undo them if they want to. Anyway, I moved to where this *should* be, and stubbed off all the spells *and* dropped them in the right category. This way, spells in multiple classes' spell lists can work fine - instead of only a [[Bard spells ]] link at the bottom of the page, it could have a [[Bard spells ]] tag and a [[Cleric spells ]] tag, thus putting it in both! Perfect solution, no? -- [:: ℑilver§ℑide ::] 00:23, January 24, 2006 (PST)
Category stuff[edit]
Is it normal that the list of spells in this category correctly shows up when going to Bard spells but not Bard spells? -- Tihocan 11:26, January 24, 2006 (PST)
- EGADS WTF somebody tell Xevo!! That's weird ^^/ (post by Peerless - see his talk and contribs.) 09:48, February 8, 2006 (PST)
- Both links work perfect for me what is happening? -- Koolkat
- Bard spells - go there. Look at the bottom of the page. Nothign special right? Just a black box with the parent categories. Then go to the actual page Bard spells - normal auto-generated Category infos at the bottom of the page. Weirdness (post by Peerless - see his talk and contribs.) 09:52, February 8, 2006 (PST)
- Ok but how do we tell Xevo? -- Tihocan 08:22, February 9, 2006 (PST)

- Oh, hehe, didn't even know he had an account here, don't remember seeing him around. Will put a notice there -- Tihocan 09:50, February 9, 2006 (PST)
Blindness[edit]
TODO: check that blindness is indeed a l2 bard spell (it is not present in the beta KB) -- Tihocan 08:13, February 8, 2006 (PST)
- It is. I recorded all Bard spells from spell levels 1-3 from my level 7 Bard. darB 10:16, February 9, 2006 (PST)
- Ok thanks! -- Tihocan 12:17, February 9, 2006 (PST)
Apostraphes[edit]
Peerless, can you please explain what the difference is between the types of apostraphes? You renamed several spells to have the 'simple' version, and it broke the links on the Bard spells page for those you changed except Otto's. I can't see any difference between them to even begin to guess what correction is needed. Limitation of the font, perhaps? Anyways, I have no idea how to fix this... (I had this on the Talk page for Otto's, but moved it because I figured it made more sense here). Dedridd 17:22, February 18, 2006 (PST)
- I had raised the same problem a while ago. Don't remember if it was with you (but don't think so). Anyway, there is the simple version (') and a complex one that apparently is by default on some systems. It may have the same display for some people, but it's a different ASCII code and thus it's incompatible. I think if you type it in an url, IE (or Firefox, don't rembmer) will translate it to the ascii code number. -- Tihocan 10:31, February 20, 2006 (PST)
- I KNOWI replied to this... but it's not here, and it's not there, so I dunno. Anyway, yes, the site converts the two types of apostrophe to their repstective URL encoding; ther curly one is something like %31%26%54 - why it needs THREE codes is beyond me. Anyway, the nortma one is %27-seems much more user friendly to have a single code in the URL. I think we need to have enterwiki 2.0 automagically convert any facilicious apostrophes in the URL into normal ones, don't you? Somebody add that to the [EnterWiki 2.0/Proposed] page, thanks. 66.58.239.135 10:37, February 20, 2006 (PST)
- Yes, that would be handy, especially since I'm not hearing which key on the keyboard is the 'good' apostraphe and which is the 'bad' one, and using the wrong one will keep wiki links from working. I still don't know how to correct this category page, though. If you renamed the pages, Peerless, shouldn't it have automatically done a redirect to the new name just like any other move? My head-cold is leaving me more confused than normal (look out!), so I'm sorry there's an obvious solution that I'm not spotting. :) Dedridd 10:55, February 20, 2006 (PST)
- Nevermind, I got it. I thought you had already renamed them, Peerless, but it would appear not. I'm doing so now. Heck if I even know how to create a curly apostraphe, but I'm glad it appears that I'm using the right ones! Dedridd 11:02, February 20, 2006 (PST)
- You can still copy / paste a character even if you don't know how to make it ;) -- Tihocan 11:51, February 20, 2006 (PST)

- If you can't see a difference between the characters, though, then you don't know which one is the correct one to copy/paste. That's the boat I was in - they looked the same when I diffed Peerless's changes, so correcting was an issue, and I also couldn't tell if I was using the right ones. Now that I know they show up differently when in edit mode, I'm all set. :) Dedridd 11:59, February 20, 2006 (PST)
Bard Spells and Category:Bard Spells[edit]
Due to the way redirects and all that work, wouldn't it make sense to include the spells, broken down by class caster level on the page Bard spells and the list of all bard spells on Bard spells ? I personally wouldn't think that they need to all be on one page, especially since then the redirects would work correctly. Sean Et Cetera 15:56, September 29, 2006 (EDT)
- Not sure I understand what you mean. Are you saying we could get rid of the alphabetical list at the bottom of the category page? If so, yes, you're completely right, and then the category page should redirect to Bard spells. Tihocan 13:59, October 23, 2006 (EDT)
Spell "Horn of Thunder" is missing. Unfortuatelly I have no bard. Can someone help, plesase ⇒ Corgrind (Contribs • Message • Email) 12:07, April 2, 2021 (EDT)
