Talk:Spell memorization

From DDO wiki

Technically this is spell scribing not spell memorization. Memorzation is what you do when you chose your spells in the inn. Also do wizards not gain a new spell every level for free? -- koolkat 11:36, January 18, 2006 (PST)

No, what you do at a shrine/tavern is spell preparation. It's true wizards don't really memorize spells like other classes though. I'm not sure it's a large enough difference for a seperate path though. Maybe just a second entry on this page making a mention of it.. --Uky 11:53, January 18, 2006 (PST)
Ahh so they changed the paradigm for this game. In PnP DnD it is different. I think we should have a page then with spell scribing explaining the difference and then this works for spell memorization. -- koolkat 4:02, January 18, 2006 (CST)
Is it that big of a change? In D&D you have a spellbook that you scribe spells to, which assuming your spellbook's not getting close to full or you don't lose it.. functions just like spell memorization for classes like druids, paladins, rangers, non-spontaneous cleric... After you've scribed/memorized the spell you still have to prepare it the day before to use them. Such preparation's brought over in DDO as well, well you select which of your memorized/scribed spells you want to prepare at a rest shrine (or freely at taverns).
It's worth a mention to sort out confusion, but functionally it's the same thing. You can't lose or trade your spellbook and it doesn't get full in DDO. --Uky 18:17, January 18, 2006 (PST)
