Help talk:Subpagination

The vote[edit]

What namespaces need subpagination? Subpagination is like what you see currently on user pages and talk pages - for instance, visit Help_talk:Subpagination/1 and see in the upper-right hand corner is something like < Help talk:Subpagination; if you visit Help_talk:Subpagination/1/x you should see in the upper-right hand corner is something like < Help talk:Subpagination < /1 or something. Right? Ok, here are the namespaces:

  1. Main (where everything is)
    • yes
    • yes
  2. Talk (Main's talk namespace)
    • yes
    • no
  3. User
    • yes
    • no
  4. User_talk
    • yes
    • no
  5. DDOwiki
    • yes
    • yes
  6. DDOwiki_talk
    • yes
    • no
  7. Image
    • no
    • no
  8. Image_talk
    • yes
    • no
  9. MediaWiki
    • no
    • no
  10. MediaWiki_talk

    • no
  11. Template
    • no
    • no
  12. Template_talk
    • yes
    • no
  13. Help

  14. Help_talk

    • no
  15. Category

  19. Attribute

  20. Attribute_talk

Just put a '#*yes' or a '#*no' under each one, under the other votes. Thanks!

Comments[edit]

Sorry, I don't understand what this is about. Your links do not work. Tihocan 15:32, March 22, 2006 (EST)

Sorry should be fixed now.

Why? As in, why would we use subpagination? You showed us the syntax for doing it and what it looks like when you visit a subpaged page, but what's the practical application for it, beyond Talk pages? I can't come up with scenarios that this type of organization would aid with. Perhaps this is something that we just need to set up as a need arises for it? You've got a more global view than I, I'm sure, and right now I can't fathom what I'd want to use it for, so I'm going to courteously obstain. Dedridd 09:00, March 23, 2006 (EST)

Same as Dedridd. Where would we use this? I need to understand what it brings before voting. As a side note, and on a totally unrelated topic, it looks like the edit link for sections does not work anymore (try clicking edit for the Comments section, and I got the same problem earlier on another page). Tihocan 10:44, March 23, 2006 (EST)
Edit links should be fixed now - but that causes more problems ^^/ oh well, at least those problems are merely cosmetic (look at the modify this page URL - should be like http://en.ddowiki.ws/edit/Help_talk:Subpagination - to fix the edit links it's back to good old uglified http://en.ddowiki.ws/index.php?title=Help_talk:Subpagination&action=edit ). About the subpagination - it's useful when creating an array of pages. For instance, the information project is a prime example. There are a bunch (4 now, more coming) subpage - it would be nice to have an autolink back to the information project home at the top of each one. (post by Peerless - see his talk and contribs.)
Ok, I see, this would be to ease navigation... Well, why not, but I'm not sure we need a lot of them. At least, it does not sound like a top priority to me. I'll go vote :] Tihocan 15:28, March 23, 2006 (EST)
