How to sign comments[edit]

On talk pages, it is proper etiquette to sign and date your messages. To do this, add four tildes to the end of your message. When you save the page, these will be converted to your signature plus the current date and time.

On this wiki, this can be more easily done by using the editbox tool Editbox Signature.png.

What you type What it looks like
~~~~ Technical 13 (Contribs • Message) 16:36, September 22, 2021 (UTC)
The default "sig" is your username (or IP address for anon users), but you can customize it in your preferences menu.
If you want to modify how the date is displayed or put the date before the signature, you can access the components independently:
  • ~~~ is used to get a signature only
  • ~~~~ is used to get a signature with timestamp
  • ~~~~~ is used to get a timestamp only
Signing your posts prevents readers from getting your messages confused with those by other users; with the date/time stamp included, other users can follow the flow of the conversation.
