Browse List[edit]

Can we put this in the browse box at the top of every page?

As nothing links to it, yes. Borror0 12:24, September 11, 2007 (EDT)

How exactly does favor work?[edit]

I have been unable to find an explanation of exactly how favor works in DDO. It is clear that it is gained by doing quests, but it is not clear whether repeating quests, either on the same or on different difficulties, contributes any additional favor points. The comments about how some favor ranks are unachievable implies that there is some kind of limit on how favor can be earned. If anybody knows exactly how favor works, I'd like to know, and request that it be integrated into the article if possible.Dragon Bloodthirsty 15:40, July 14, 2010 (EDT)

Hm, yes this page could use a longer explanation about earning favor. Difficulty describes the process a little- basically each quest has a certain value of favor earned on normal, and the highest difficulty completed determines how much favor you have earned. The comments about favor being unobtainable are about there only being so much favor in the game- you can't earn 300 favor with the Yugoloth because there are not enough quests for them. --Cyanpill 12:07, July 15, 2010 (EDT)

The Twelve 250 ""reward""[edit]

Just so no one forgets how much Turbine doesn't care about favor anymore I'd thought I'd stick this here so we can remember.

The 250 twelve favor reward was added to the game as soon as the favor became available on Lamania. It was a huge Ingredients bag. Days before release it was removed, since the DDO Store is the new favor system and they'd rather charge you RL cash then make this item available in the game to players who really earn it.

Patron mail[edit]

I think the Patron mail should be place in the respective Patron page. Its adding to much clutter to the main favor page where it was a quick skimming to see the rewards Bladedge (ContributionsMessage) 19:42, February 22, 2013 (EST)

Since this text dump is basically a pet project of mine, I'll say that I have no problems moving it to the patron page. If no one post against the move, I'll do it later this weekend. Nibelung (ContributionsMessage) 10:07, February 23, 2013 (EST)
Anything that reduces clutter on an already large page sounds good to me! I'm sure most people are on that page for the favor rewards, not text dumps of the mail. Susalona (ContributionsMessage) 12:08, February 23, 2013 (EST)
Sounds good to me... I prefer it less cluttered as well.

Potential Favor Bugs[edit]

Note that if a quest has both heroic and epic options, it is worthwhile to do it on heroic elite BEFORE you do any epic version of it, as this will lock in the max favor. If you end up doing epic normal or hard, then go back and do heroic elite, you won't get max favor. You will be stuck needed to do it on epic elite for max favor. (verified as of 9/13/2013 - U19p1). Bollwerk (ContributionsMessage) 14:25, September 13, 2013 (EDT)

This is not true. It is a display bug only. Logging out and logging back in will correct the favor reward. Full elite credit is given for heroic elite, even if run after epic hard. 24.178.115.166 11:55, October 17, 2013 (EDT)

Total Favor / Max Favor[edit]

Is it possible to get max favor value back on the page?
It looks like edit 2014-03-10 removed the current max value.
Joenuts (ContributionsMessage) 11:25, April 3, 2014 (EDT)
  • Joe, if you know what the value is, please do feel free to add it back (I'm actually kind of confused as to why you are asking). In the future (quite a ways in the future) I would like to have these values automatically filled in based on the values entered into the {{Quest}} template. This will take some work and some sandboxing, and I need to spend some time playing as i am too out of touch with the game to be of much use changing anything at the moment outside of actual wiki administration type stuff that isn't game dependent. ShoeMaker (Contributions Message) 12:28, April 3, 2014 (EDT)
    • I see you tried to make a table that would add the favor values automatically. To prevent further editing, I already have a template that does exactly that and has been successful enough so far. The reason I haven't applied it yet is because it is tied to another template I'm working on that will list quests in tables and it also has not been extensively tested to make sure that it can prevent double counting of quests and some other stuff. The template in question is here: User:Faltout/SandBox/DPL_category_attribute_sum along with some templates that help it (User:Faltout/SandBox/Max quest favor and User:Faltout/SandBox/Add).
An application of that looks like this:
      {{User:Faltout/SandBox/DPL category attribute sum |category=The Twelve patron quests |notcategory=History |template=Template:Quest |phantom=User:Faltout/SandBox/Max quest favor}}

      657
Please do not apply the template yet because -as I said- it's not ready. I will apply it as soon as it passes extensive tests. Faltout (ContribsMessage) 06:02, March 24, 2018 (EDT)

Key Inputs[edit]

I am of the opinion that we should not be including any key inputs to access things as they are able to be changed. Simply mentioning that you can access these points in the Adventure Compendium is sufficient. Habreno (ContribsMessage) 20:39, January 19, 2016 (EST)

Hey - I agree 100% that we should have a site-wide policy re this, as it appears differently across a number of pages. But as it is a policy question that affects more than just this article, I suggest we move further discussion here. (And copy/pasting your comment there to start the discussion section, w/ approp citation.) Readya there. C-Hound (ContribsMessage) 17:11, January 20, 2016 (EST)

Recent revamp & information loss[edit]

While I like the automation, a lot of information was deleted with the current format, and (generally speaking) that's bad practice. Specifically, the loss of the name (w/ page link) & location of Patrons, and any individual notes, etc. A big part of this info was finding the patron so you can collect the reward, and some of the "quirks" of diff Patrons. Could you re-insert this, please? C-Hound (ContribsMessage) 13:26, May 24, 2018 (EDT)

  • Yes, I can. I removed it because I think that the page is a huge wall of text and didn't want more clutter. I will add each patron representative and their location collected from their NPC page. Any other information that I should add? Faltout (ContribsMessage) 13:48, May 24, 2018 (EDT)
  • I don't miss anything in general. I am not a fan of too many bullets though. Maybe T:Patron presentation could be at some point redesigned to have less bullets, maybe into a table. But that's just my personal preference probably. On the other hand, a table could also serve as a visual aid to distinguish where one patron ends and the next starts. I would also advocate to reintroduce these cool tables to the free agents. -- Cru121 (ContribsMessage) 14:05, May 24, 2018 (EDT)
    • Added the representatives and improved some of their locations so that they are equally or more accurate than before. I hope they look good.
About the bullets. The reason I removed all the tables from the favor rewards was that you can't directly enter a table to a template because of the character |. As soon as you start the wikitable with {|, the template thinks you're giving another parameter and everything goes to hell. A way to deal with that is to escape every | with {{!}}, which will make the casual user wonder what this weird punctuation is. Another solution is to make them html tables, which is prettier but goes against the wiki idea. A third solution is to create the tables elsewhere and transclude them to the Patron template. No solution is perfect, which is why I opted for bullets that are easier for a simple user to comprehend. I don't really care, so if you pick a solution, I (or you) can make it happen :) Faltout (ContribsMessage) 14:20, May 24, 2018 (EDT)
    • I forgot about the other bullets. If you think the favor tiers would look better in tables (while keeping the extensive reward info), then go ahead and edit the {{Patron}} and {{Favor rewards phantom}} templates (they use similar layouts, but different code) or show an example and I'll edit it. Faltout (ContribsMessage) 14:24, May 24, 2018 (EDT)

I made a table format at User:Faltout/SandBox/Favor rewards phantom. Here's how it looks:

{{#dpl:
 | category = Patron factions
 | uses = Template:Patron
 | include = {Patron¦User:Faltout/SandBox/Favor rewards phantom}
 | mode = userformat
}}

Copy paste that code in some page and preview. Faltout (ContribsMessage) 16:00, May 24, 2018 (EDT)

  • We have a whole set of templates for creating tables nested in templates: {{(!}}, {{!-}}, {{!}}, {{!)}}, {{=}}
This conflict with tables in templates I usually resolve by using HTML5/CSS3 table syntax, but I'm usually doing much more than a simple table when I do it and need the flexibility to better control the style and content of the table elements. DDOstream (ContribsMessage) 09:13, May 30, 2018 (EDT)

I reintroduced the tables to The Free Agents as Cru121 (Contribs • Message) requested. I used the above syntax that escapes the vertical bars. It looks ugly in the code, but nice in the page. I still haven't gotten any feedback about the table format for the patrons (see the above DPL code). Do you like it? Do you think it needs a little more color than grey? Do you think the tables need a fixed size? Ignore the tables and stick to bullets? Faltout (ContribsMessage) 08:18, June 7, 2018 (EDT)

  • I saw the tables and I like them. But if I am the only one, it's probably not a good indicator. Even if tables got rejected, I still think there should be a clearer visual indicator between individual favor entries. Thanks. -- Cru121 (ContribsMessage) 10:35, June 7, 2018 (EDT)
    • Tables it is. I don't see anyone arguing for bullets. Do you also want tables in the patron pages or just this page? Faltout (ContribsMessage) 12:13, June 7, 2018 (EDT)
      • Thanks. Patron pages already have enough tables I guess. IMHO not needed.-- Cru121 (ContribsMessage) 04:24, June 8, 2018 (EDT)

Unable to Update Keepers of the Feather Table[edit]

The Small Augment Bag received through Keepers of the Feather favor now has 15 slots. I've updated this where possible, but I can't seem to locate where to update this on the table located on this page. -- Dulcimerist (ContribsMessage) 14:08, April 25, 2020 (EDT)

  • I don't know where it is pulled it from either, but just saving the page again as a minor edit updated the bag's description. SysteRn (ContribsMessage) 14:31, April 25, 2020 (EDT)

Some kind of different favour[edit]

Well, there's some kind of different favour which is not the same as the Patron Favor : When I finish certain quests, then NPCs tell me that they have reduced prices for me because I basically took away their trouble.

I think that this should be collected somewhere, too. For higher level characters this is irrelevant, but to low level Nebies it is, because they earn not much money as first-lifers, especially in the lowest levels.

For example, I have this problem in the HCL right now, where I have to sell everything and look after haggle items and reduced prices to get more money. But I don't quite remember anymore which NPCs give me what kinds of reduced prices. The only exception i remember is Shan-To-Kor for the Marketplace. • The Free Agents Well-Known tier offers normal repair services at 10% off.
  • House Deneith Noted tier offers normal repair services at 10% off.
This is documented and is part of patron favor rewards.  👟 ShoeMaker (Contribs • Message) 👟 17:44, August 8, 2020 (EDT)

How about Morgrave University patron and favor?[edit]

Oh, i see now, it's present in article, just not in quick reference table! Sorry for bothering, just return after year or so hiatus. 8) Ulfo (ContribsMessage) 14:24, April 8, 2021 (EDT)

Missing Favor Feats after ER/LR?[edit]

I finally got around to doing my first Epic Reincarnation, after reaching 5000 total favor. Upon finishing the process, my character is level 20 (expected), but several of my "Favor Feats" are missing from the character sheet. What is showing:

  • Coin Lord Finishing School
  • Draconic Vitality (Argonessen)
  • Gatekeepers (both)
  • Harpers HP
  • Deneith skill
  • Jorasco skill
  • Phiarlan skill
  • Sharn City Council (both)

What's missing (or at least not displayed)?

  • Deneith HP
  • Harpers skill
  • Jorasco HP
  • Keepers of Feather saves
  • PDK HP
  • Summer Court saves
  • Summer Court HP
  • Morgrave skills

There are probably more, as I didn't have *all* favor feats unlocked before ER. I couldn't find any rhyme or reason as to why some stayed, and some are gone, nor could I find any documentation of this in the wiki, though there have been several posts by players in the forums experiencing the same issues. -- Acrisius (ContribsMessage) 20:09, July 4, 2021 (EDT)
