Re-visit time![edit]

With all of the new weapon effect groupings that have been introduced in the last few updates, it may be time to look this template over and make sure it is up-to-date and complete. I'll also be firing up the bot to move everything that is using Template:Dmg1 to here. It won't be for a few days, but I wanted to make sure everyone got a chance to see my intentions on this before just doing it. I think the Item: project is "MOSTLY" done minus a few stragglers I still need to find and move over and this will be my next project... It is one of the smaller ones on my list. I also want to go through and clean up / update all of the other Item description templates  as well as make sure they are all properly in there (I'm thinking we had more than 72 that should be in there, and 3 of those have been merged with this one but not yet properly deprecated). Then I want to finish my Template:Named Item then if no-one beats me to it, I'll organize and clean up the category tree structure that I just dumped everything into Items  for now. Finally on my list of big things to do is to go through all of the items I just moved one at a time and make sure that nothing links to the redirect pages. Going to take the weekend off from any big projects, and maybe a little longer. Will still work on a couple little odds and ends.

Okay, so I was going through starting to clean up the wanted categories that some of my edits for the move made. This template is going to cause some complex coding to have it auto-cat. Apparently, {{#var:Dmg}} defined at the top is the space deprived lower case version of the effect so the switch can work more efficiently. Since there have been SO many cooks in this kitchen, I would like to get some input on the brainstormed possible remedies for this issue.
  1. At the end of every popup template we can add {{#ifeq:{{lc:{{NAMESPACE}}}}|item|<includeonly>[[Category:(Effect) items]]</includeonly>}}.
  2. At the end of every popup template we can redefine {{#var:Dmg}} to it's full name and add {{#ifeq:{{lc:{{NAMESPACE}}}}|item|<includeonly>[[Category:{{#var:Dmg}} items]]</includeonly>}} to the bottom of the page.
  3. We can rework the template so that although case is unimportant, spacing is and this will allow {{ucfirst:{{lc:{{{1}}} }} }} to work properly for all one word effects and then #switch the rest (like many other templates currently do) at the bottom.

I personally like option 2 the best (and am going to implement it for now), but I would like other ideas and some input from some of the other creators of the template.

Looks fine from here, the code changed but the template usage is the same as before. Thumbs up. by Mjoll (ContributionsMessage) 16:21, January 19, 2013 (EST)

Wisdom[edit]

Since the term Bewildering is not in use and Wisdom items  is in use for ability granting bonuses. I place Wisdom (damage/Bewildering) under Wisdom Damage, but it is not finalize, if someone can come up with a more appropriate Category name Bladedge (ContributionsMessage) 13:01, February 23, 2013 (EST)

Okay, so I've started the categorization redo for this template... I'm on a weak wireless internet connection from a neighbor, so the rest will have to wait until Monday or be completed by someone else. I started at the bottom, just follow the same pattern up through using:
  • Ability damage/
  • Alignment damage/
  • Energy damage/
  • Physical damage/
  • Untyped damage/

I'll build out the rest of the tree structure and move things around as needed for proper categorization.

Improved Acid Arrow[edit]

Improved Acid Arrow from Tortured Livewood Bow (Level 14) needs to be added; I don't have permission to edit. Cdr (ContributionsMessage) 13:45, March 13, 2013 (EDT)

Instructions[edit]

I cant find instructions on current usage. The instructions on the archived page are not working for shocking touch and shock. Book O Dragons (ContributionsMessage) 21:58, October 7, 2013 (EDT)

  • Shocking touch was missing from the template. Usage is dmg|shockingtouch.--Cru121 (ContributionsMessage) 00:05, October 8, 2013 (EDT)
Bloodletter all versions seem broken, and it seems to wander out of it's section, but can't find the bug until i fix my editing software. Hard to follow brackets without Neouni (ContributionsMessage) 09:39, October 8, 2013 (EDT)
