Turbine Point

From DDO wiki
Jump to: navigation, search

Turbine Points are a way to pay for various content within the game using the ingame DDO Store, whether you be a VIP, Premium Free To Play or just a Free To Play user. Turbine Points were introduced in Module 9. You can gain Turbine Points in several ways.

Contents

[edit] Gaining Turbine Points

Gaining Turbine Points depends on what type of account you have.

[edit] VIP

There are three methods available for gaining Turbine Points as a VIP Subscriber:

  • You get 500 Turbine Points every month.
  • Earning Favor within the game.
  • Purchasing Turbine Points using real money.

[edit] Premium Account

Premium Accounts are accounts that have registered a Dungeons & Dragons: Stormreach retail account key, purchased at least one month of VIP status, or purchased Turbine Points in the DDO Store.

There are two methods available for gaining Turbine Points as a Premium Free To Play account holder:

  • Earning Favor within the game.
  • Purchasing Turbine Points using real money.

[edit] Free To Play

There are two methods available for gaining Turbine Points as a Free To Play account holder:

  • Earning Favor within the game.
  • Purchasing Turbine Points using real money in-game.
    • Note: Purchasing any amount of Turbine Points immediately upgrades your account to a Premium Account.

[edit] Bonus Turbine Points for previous play or participating the beta

Players were given free/retroactive turbine points if they participated in the module 9 beta, or paid for the game prior to Module 9's release:

  • Retroactive Turbine Points if you were a previous subscriber (now known as a VIP). Amount was based on length of membership.
  • Retroactive Turbine Points based on the highest amount of favor you had on one character.
  • Bonus Points if you participated in the Module 9 Beta.
  • Bonus Points if you used the DDO Store in the Module 9 Beta.

On occasion DDO will have special offers to purchase Turbine Points at a cheaper rate. Promotions on going now:

You gain 25 Turbine Points for each full 100 Favor gained by every character you ever make.
Each character is tracked separately. Deleting a character does not erase the TP he or she earned.

[edit] Special Rewards

You gain bonus Turbine Points the very first time you reach certain total Favor thresholds on each server. You can gain each bonus only once per server. (The first bonus may not be awarded until you talk to Dax Boon in Korthos Village, check your award mail in-game in Stormreach, or both.)

A common recommendation for earning TP is to reach 100 favor on each server.
For each server you will earn 100 bonus TP for reaching 5, 25, and 50 favor for the first time on the server, 25 TP for reaching 100 favor, 100 TP for reaching 1000 favor, and an additional 100 TP for every 1000 thereafter.

Congratulations! As a special bonus to you in recognition for the first time you achieved ## total favor on the {SERVER} game world, you have been given ## additional Points to spend at the DDO Store!
To enter the DDO Store and start shopping, just click the gold coin icon at the far right of the main menu bar.
The more new quests you complete, the more points you will be awarded. Happy Adventuring!

[edit] Spending Turbine Points

The only method of spending Turbine Points is using the DDO Store from within the game. There are many things available that you can spend them on, from Adventure Packs to XP & Loot Boosters. Go to the DDO Store wiki page for a list of items.

[edit] DDO Turbine Points and LotRO Turbine Points

Unlike the name suggests, Turbine Points are not unified Turbine wallet among various games they are running. Back when Lord of the Rings Online went F2P (fall 2010), Turbine stated that they wouldn't combine the points for both games. Points you have in DDO cannot be spent in the LotRO Store (LotRO wiki article).
