Incorrect use[edit]

When using the word "unique", be certain that there is only one copy of that item, ability, spell, creature, anything on the server. Otherwise it is not unique and it is using wrong term and thus breaks Naming_policy#Terminology_Conflicts. BlackSmith (ContributionsMessage) 14:51, March 4, 2013 (EST)

Correct use[edit]

When a ability or effect or similar can be produced only from one source, then it is unique. Cannith Combat Infusion is unique effect, while good luck is not. BlackSmith (ContributionsMessage) 14:56, March 4, 2013 (EST)

If I understand your statements, it is only unique until Turbine-DDO decides it should be on more gear and available in more ways. We avoid the whole issue by calling things named, which they are whether they are unique or not.

Your correct. If Turbine introduces a another way to gain the effect of, say, Improved Fire Augmentation IX then it would not be unique anymore. Thus it is quite possibly a powerful effect to gain your hands on. I am aware that the "named" is in use. I am one of the admins that suggested and enforced its use. The discussion seems to be lost in time as I can't find it thus I brought up the points as reminders when work with (category) names.
