Back to the game after a very long hiatus. Been having a grand time running around Ravenloft, just got my first character up to 30th lv. Anyways, point being, I've noticed that there are some gaps in the Ravenloft pages that don't exist in older/other pages. For example, on Into the Mists, it simply says that the revenant will help you if you talk to him, but doesn't explain how. Most old pages would have a screenshot, or the exact wording of the selection needed in the dialogue with him, to really walk the reader directly where they needed to get. I added a simple line in there, that I'll probably go back and edit later, to highlight there is something you need to do for him to assist. BUT, and this is the big but, I don't know bupkis about coding, so I honestly just looked at somewhere else on the page that I thought looked like what I wanted my addition (indented bulletpoint) to look like, cut and pasted it, and wrote over the text with what I wanted. I can keep doing that, but I'm curious if that is desired, or if there is a process or a preference to have me just post things as they come along, to someone who knows a bit more than I.

In that same vein, though a different question, who do I talk to about maps? The Land of Barovia map is about 80%... which is good enough, but I thought I'd at least reach out with additional info in case the creator wanted to make edits. For example, there is a spot marked with a spider's nest where I encountered a rare. I also found a rare in a spot that was marked with a different rare's name. Few other random little things like that.

In short, I'm happy to assist as I can, but I would prefer not to break anything, so just soliciting advice on the best way to accomplish that.

Welcome (back).

  • As for the tip about Vasiliy Ivanych, I think the addition to Into the Mists is almost sufficient. Maybe add a link to the NPC / monster page. And then add the exact dialogs there, if you feel like it. For formatting inspiration look at Yewil d'Phiarlan for example.
  • As for the maps ... in general you can add comments and information to the talk page of the file or the article. With Barovia in particular, in my limited experience, the location of random encounters is fairly random. Rares can spawn in many locations, etc. Maybe this mechanism needs describing somewhere, if it isn't already mentioned.

Anyway, feel free to fix stuff that you see and we will scream at you on your talk page if you break something badly. :) Fortunately, all changes can be rolled back fairly easily, so be bold. -- Cru121 (ContribsMessage) 02:37, September 18, 2018 (EDT)
