Bladebreaker =/= Brightbane?[edit]

Okay, something is screwy here. I was playing Temple of Elemental Evil Part One, and I found a CR 10 Red-Name rust monster near the western shrine on Level 1, named "Bladebreaker" <Temple Scavenger> . There is no "Bladebreaker" on the monster list for ToEEP1, but there is "Brightbane" <Rust Monster> the rust monster. Upon searching the wiki for Bladebreaker, I found that it was a redirect to "Brightbane". I investigated the edit history of Bladebreaker, and found that it -was- a full page once upon a time, but had been changed into a redirect to Brightbane because of changelong notes for Update 36 ( https://ddowiki.com/page/Update_36_Release_Notes#Quests_and_Adventure_Areas ) Well, either Bladebreaker got added -back- into the game since then, or SSG never actually properly removed Bladebreaker after all. I present proof here: https://ddowiki.com/page/File:User-TheWarforgedArtificer-bladebreaker_proof_2020.jpg Either way, this page should be restored from being a Redirect to actually being the proper monster article in of itself. • I found out this disambiguation page: Brightbane the Rust Monster. It may contain answers. MrLizard (ContribsMessage) 15:46, September 8, 2020 (EDT)
  • Hmm...that is somewhat supportive, but still doesn't quite answer the question definitively. See, I have no idea if Brightbane actually IS in ToEEP1 or not. The fact that it's currently listed there, and that there was once a game update changelong about it, suggests that there is a rust monster named Brightbane in ToEE. But what I know for -certain- right now is that Bladebreaker is in ToEE, and there is an objective that is correctly linked to Bladebreaker. Thus, I believe Bladebreaker, at least, should be restored to the way it was before being turned into a redirect; I simply want to confirm that this is okay before I do so. After that, the only question then is what to do with Brightbane. For all I know, there actually is -two- separate random-spawned (since not all of the rednames spawn on any given run) Red-named rust monster encounters, one for Bladebreaker, and one for Brightbane. However, for multiple reasons, I suspect this is not the case and Brightbane does not exist in ToEE, and that the old official changelog was in fact in error. It does seem implausible to me that there are two separate redname rust monster random-spawns in ToEE, and on Brightbane's page, that disambiguation page you linked suggests that Brightbane is found -only- in a different location, its Heroic Normal CR is listed as 12, whereas there is not a single Heroic Normal CR in ToEE P1 or P2 that goes over 10, not even Zuggtmoy. However, none of that is actually conclusive evidence, so I don't -know- for sure if Brightbane exists in ToEE or not, I've not played enough to make a call on that. So...all I want to know, for now, if anyone can answer this: Shall I go ahead and just restore Bladebreaker for now? TheWarforgedArtificer (ContribsMessage) 20:25, September 10, 2020 (EDT)
  • I am just going to go ahead and restore this page to its old revision now. Still need some investigation if Brightbane is even supposed to be listed in ToEEp1 at all. TheWarforgedArtificer (ContribsMessage) 19:15, September 22, 2020 (EDT)
