Death Aura
| Name: | Death Aura |
|---|---|
| School: | Necromancy (Negative Energy spells) |
| Level: | Sor/Wiz 4 |
| Spell Point Cost: | 25 |
| Components: | VerbalVerbal: A verbal component is a spoken incantation. You cannot cast spells that require this component if you cannot act or speak. This has no gameplay applications in DDO, as all characters can always speak and there are no effects which prevent you from doing so., SomaticSomatic: A somatic component is a measured and precise movement of the hand. You cannot cast spells that require this component if you cannot move causing arcane spell failure resulting in a ruined spell. Spells without a somatic component may be used with disregard to Arcane Spell Failure chance. Note - that characters make the same arm gestures for most spells in DDO, so you can't tell which spells require this component by watching your character's animations. |
| Metamagic: | Extend, Heighten, Quicken |
| Range: | Self Centered Standard AOE |
| Target: | Self only |
| Duration: | 24 seconds + 3 seconds per caster level |
| Saving Throw: | None |
| Spell Resistance: | No |
| Cooldown: | 5 seconds |
| Description:
Envelops the caster in a sickly aura of negative energy. Living enemies stepping inside the aura take 2d4 damage plus 1 per two? caster levels every 2 seconds as long as they remain within it. Undead are instead healed by the aura, and friendly Undead don't trigger spell resistance. This aura can affect up to one creature per caster level. The in-game description claims +1 per caster level, but it is clearly less than that. If anybody has carefully derived the correct formula, please update this. +1 per TWO caster levels is the current best guess as to the actual effect. Testing shows that it does in fact only add +1 per 2 Caster levels. Testing also shows that it caps out at lv 20, since testing from lv 20, and then a mostly full magister destiny with added necromancy caster levels from the tier 5 ability gave no change to the numbers healed. |
