Talk:Village of Tanaroa

Has anyone has found out what the prerequisite is that Oksi of Tanaroa hands out his quest chain? Corgrind (ContribsMessage) 13:35, January 19, 2024 (EST)

  • When I first arrived at Tanaroa, both chains were available to me, and at that point I'd only done Captive of the Hidden God, so that must be the prerequisite. (That might explain why people have been unable to claim the chains, as you can get to Tanaroa without finishing Captive.) PurpleSerpent (ContribsMessage) 14:01, January 19, 2024 (EST)
  • I'm having trouble interpreting that last version - are you saying that a character that teleports to Tanaroa before going there from Captive of the Hidden God is unable to claim that chain on their current life at all? If so, did you confirm that by entering via Captive on that life? If both of those are the case, this ought to be marked as a bug; otherwise, that line either needs to be marked as unverified or reworded. PurpleSerpent (ContribsMessage) 16:43, April 22, 2024 (EDT)

Have to correct that:
Many of the symptoms I encountered lead to the conclusion that the unlocking of the chain NPC is either related to the creation of the stats for the wilderness zone or to the creation of the tab in the quest journal.

  • The first happens when you enter the wilderness first time in a life, either by leaving the quest through the portal or by leaving the village through one of the two gates.
  • The second happens when acquire any quest, chain or saga either in the harbor or in the village the first time in a life.

The second is probably the cause for our issue, and it may be related to the cause why the Ravenloft and Feywild teleport items place you near the zone entry if you haven't visited there before -> making sure that some parameters are set correctly => Just checked something: I found that porting to Isle of Dread doesn't create the tab in the quest journal, and I found I could talk to the chain NPC. BUT I canceled that dialog and talked to the other chain NPC and acquired the curses chain, and voila - The 'adventure' chain NPC don't talk to me anymore. Entering the winderness from the village had no negative effect.

So the condition maybe one of these two:

  • The quest must be acquired Captive of the Hidden God as very first action, maybe mandatory in the harbor.
  • The chain must be acquired as very first action (may or may not work, especially as repetion)

Currently I have no char left to test, and no time to create a L7 veteran and outfit it. Corgrind (ContribsMessage) 12:23, April 23, 2024 (EDT)

My current understanding of this issue is that it is a bug Corgrind (ContribsMessage) 12:53, April 23, 2024 (EDT)

  • Right. In that case, I'm going to mark the main thing as a bug and use Unverified for the bits we haven't cleared up yet. (Another thing: at least one user reports being able to obtain the end reward from Oksi after doing all his quests, even with him refusing to grant the chain. Here's the relevant forum post: Oksi of Tanaroa bugged.) PurpleSerpent (ContribsMessage) 14:02, April 23, 2024 (EDT)
    • Nope, not for my chars. But who knows how many different buggy status flag combinations exists here with slightly different effects ;-) Corgrind (ContribsMessage) 15:08, April 23, 2024 (EDT)
