Talk:Right Click Delay

Is anyone else here experiencing about a 5.5 second delay when right clicking (to open in a new tab) on Firefox? Just started earlier today and only seems to happen on the wiki.. Is doing it on both my Desktop and Laptop computer. I've checked my about:config but see no setting for right click delay or any delay that is set near the 5500ms I am experiencing.. It seems to do it on links to pages but not files. IE is not doing it. Tried it in Firefox safe-mode and it took 7.6 seconds. Confused Face ShoeMaker 02:25, January 2, 2012 (EST)

Nope, no delay for me, and I opened all the edits by anon's dif pages at once >.> Yawgmoth 02:43, January 2, 2012 (EST)

not at the moment, but I had the same problem in the past. I couldn't really nail down what was causing it, I believe it was an extension. I eventually just created a new firefox profile to clear it, and reinstalled my extensions, leaving out some i didnt need. Had another issue that the new profile cleared also anyways: Gmail dropdown boxes werent working on my profile for some unknown reasons.

Anyways some things to try: Safe mode (hold shift while starting firefox).. If that works, try just disablign some extensions, might clear it.. It has to check each extension on each rightclick to check what they load, which lags it. If that doenst work.. do what I did, start a new profile.

other tip: Middle click a link to open it in a new tab is faster.

Noticing this a bit more with the latest firefox (v10).. Seems to be a bit of a flaw in it's design. Firefox has to scan the entire pages code to set up it's context sensitive menus on each rightclick.. So for our very long/complex pages, that can take quite a while (few seconds for me vs small pages are near instant).. Too bad, there should be some toggle to disable it's context sensitive scanning support.

Only solutions are as I said: Reduce the complexity of your profile.. Which sadly means less extensions and regular maintenance on it..

Maybe I'll switch back to Chrome.. It's ultra fast in this regard.
