There are a few different servers to choose from when you connect, how can you tell which server will give your the best connection speeds?

This is a very loaded question... Server side connection speeds should all be basically the same. Your connection speed, lies with just that, your bandwidth to your ISP. Your concern is more with server lag, which theoretically the server with the least users should have the least server lag on average.. This is great if you intend on being a soloist and not socializing with the masses of other DDO players. This play-style defeats the purpose of the game in my opinion where-as the game is intended (In my view) as a social networking system. To get the most out of the game and it's social networking possibilities, you want to pick a more populated, but not necessarily the most populated server, in which some server lag is just a fact of the game until Turbine gets to increasing the processing power on the servers, or learn how to share the resources available on all servers with each other.. I hope this answer is what you were looking for. Smile ShoeMaker 20:10, June 23, 2011 (EDT)

I'm very sorry I had to start ANOTHER topic, but I couldnt figure out how to respond in my previous thread.. What I meant was, i assumed DDO had servers scattered around North America, and there must be one that would be the closest to me/ a most direct data route that would give me the best connection. I'm new to DDO, only other MMO i played was UO back in the day!, and they had servers all over the place, thus I would of course pick the one thatI owulping best with... so are all the servers in the same place then?

You can delete my original post if possible, or tell me how to do it, if I have to be the one to remove it...

All the servers are located near turbine HQ - Boston, MA.

Topic can stay.. In the future, just hit the | Edit | button and use {{SUBST:Post|0|~~~~|Message}} or I think the | + | button does the same basic thing and doesn't require you use any templates. All of the servers are in Needham, MA (Just outside of Boston to the west about 5-10 minutes.) to the best of my knowledge.. ShoeMaker 21:31, June 23, 2011 (EDT)
