Actual numbers[edit]

There have been conflicted edits on this page. Someone should double-check the numbers (and post them on the DDO numbers page for everyone to see). Tihocan 14:53, March 10, 2006 (EST)

Ok, apparently someone fixed it, it was indeed 5 and not 3. Would be nice to have an official confirmation from a registered Wiki user though. Tihocan 13:43, March 20, 2006 (EST)
Confirmed. Up to 5, depends on BAB. --Shade 10:02, March 18, 2012 (EDT)

Question about usefulness[edit]

The wiki mentions "However, Power Attack is almost always good in these 3 situations: an enemy with damage reduction, an enemy with such a high AC you can only hit on 20, or an enemy with such a low AC you can even hit on 2." But use with high level monsters seems like the exact wrong thing to do. I assume Power Attack is useful in this case since you're only going to only hit on a 20, and will always hit on a 20, decreasing your to-hit still further won't hurt you in this situation. Which doesn't make sense but is an artifact of the way the natural 20 roll works.

I don't really understand what is your problem and / or question. Yes, using it on high level monsters (that you have a hard time to hit) is a good idea. Why would it not make sense? It means you rely on chance to hit, instead of your fighting skills, that you trade for random brute force. Tihocan 10:46, March 17, 2006 (EST)

Power attack and light weapons[edit]

Need someone to check that power attacks indeed gives damage bonus with light weapons (and report it in the corresponding information project). Tihocan 10:34, April 3, 2006 (EDT)

Confirmed. Light weapons function exactly as One-handed weapons, except for not suffering the -2 penalty to hit for TWF puproses. --Shade 10:02, March 18, 2012 (EDT)
