Merla is the daughter of the tavernkeepers, Sigmund Bauerson and Ingrid Bauerson from the Wavecrest Tavern in Korthos.

Wavecrest Tavern

As soon as you arrive in the village, she will be in the tavern, and will tell you the following:

• Merla Bauerdatter: I told Bertram that we had some Vintage Old Sully's grog in the cellar. I thought we had a whole cask! But the cask is fake—da replaced it with a disguised lever! I swear, he can be so paranoid sometimes.
• Merla Bauerdatter: In any case, could you go to the Korthos Village pier and help Bertram Sharpwood find some Vintage Old Sully's Grog?

Merla Bauerdatter: I thought the Twelve mages are supposed to be the best -- but they wrecked my poor inn!
How am I going to get those horrid things out?

    Now my inn is overrun with horrid things from that place. Worse, most of my patrons didn't get out... I tried to evacuate everyone, but they didn't listen to me. They just stood there, babbling like the mad...
    Won't someone save the Sleeping Spell Inn? And my guests will be doomed if someone doesn't get to them....
