Ever Full Flagon[edit]

If you try to talk to him while at level 3 or lower, he will reply:

  • Master Thorpe: Master Thorpe is mumbling to himself, barely aware of your presence. Hm. Yes. Of course. That makes perfect sense. But what if... eh? Are you talking to me? Goodness, I didn't see you there! I'm afraid I'm working out a difficult problem in my head right now. Can't stop to talk, or I'll lose my train of thought. So—goodbye!

If you are at level 4 or higher, however, he will reply:

  • Master Thorpe: This aged wizard looks tormented by worry. Ah, poor Master Fulvio! Such a shame! I warned you, but now you've really gone and jumped into the dragon's maw!
  • You: Pardon me... did I overhear that your friend needs help?
  • Master Thorpe: Indeed! Master Fulvio, my oldest friend, decided on a whim to explore a volcanic cavern beneath Stormreach. But he's a careless fellow, and he forgot to bring any spells to control elementals. Now he's sent me a desperate telepathic request for a Scroll of Planar Binding. I dispatched a courier with the scroll, but Fulvio still hasn't returned. I'm afraid someone ambushed the messenger and stole the scroll. Will you try to recover it and bring it to Fulvio?
  • You: Okay. I'll try to deliver your missing scroll. (Bestow quest)
  • Master Thorpe: Superb! The journey to the cavern is long, but surprisingly clear of monsters. You shouldn't face any opposition until you descend to the level where Fulvio is trapped. Just remember—be on your guard. My courier was no master wizard, but he wasn't a rank novice either. I'm sure the elementals didn't get him. Assuming that the scroll was taken by force, you must be prepared to face a deadly foe!

Talking to him after acquiring the quest, but before completion, will make him say:

  • Master Thorpe: Have you found the Scroll of Planar Binding yet? You've got to get that scroll to Master Fulvio right away! without the right tools, even a powerful mage can be destroyed by a seemingly-minor threat. It's a risk of the trade.

On completion of quest, he will congratulate you with the following:

  • Master Thorpe: Master Thorpe grins. Thank you, thank you! Yes, I already know you delivered the scroll to Fulvio. He sent word that he's now well-equipped to handle the cavern's dangers. In fact, he wants to spend another few days studying the artifacts that Calefax left behind. Such a curious fellow, Fulvio... if only he'd pay more attention to his own safety! In any case, you've earned your reward, no doubt about that.

After completing the quest and take the reward, if you talk to him again, he will reply:

  • Master Thorpe: Master Thorpe is mumbling to himself, barely aware of your presence. Hm. Yes. Of course. That makes perfect sense. But what if... eh? Are you talking to me? Goodness, I didn't see you there! I'm afraid I'm working out a difficult problem in my head right now. Can't stop to talk, or I'll lose my train of thought. So—goodbye!
