Using Photoshop to prepare images[edit]

Focus Orb images[edit]

  • Open your screenshot
  • Zoom in (Ctrl++) on the Focus Orb as far as needed
  • Activate Select tool (m)
    • Activate “Elliptical Marquee“, use fixed size and try 115px
  • Click near the focus orb and fit the selection using cursor keys
  • Use “Image/Crop” command
  • Use “Select/Inverse” command ( Shift+Ctrl+i)
  • Activate “Eraser” (e), mode “Magic Eraser”
  • Click on one of the edges to activate transparency then hit del to clean the selected area
  • Save your orb using png format ( Shift+Ctrl+s) (jpg does not support transparency)

Description box images[edit]

Preparation: You need a library of cropped frames using transparency, each in two files (top, bottom)

  • Open your screenshot
  • Zoom (Ctrl++) in on the description box as far as needed
  • Activate Select tool (m), activate “Rectangular Marquee” mode
  • Draw your selection frame around the box; if the box is very high, it’s mandatory that the left and right borders are part of the selection
  • Use “Copy to clipboard” command (Ctrl+c)
  • Open the top part of the required frame.
  • Expand the Canvas height (Ctrl+Alt+c) to match the copied box plus some space for the bottom frame
  • Paste the copied box (Ctrl+v), activate Move mode (v) and fit it to the frame using cursor keys
  • Reorder the layers with the frame on top
  • Open the bottom part of the required frame.
  • Copy and paste it on top of your frame/box
  • Activate Move mode (v) and fit it to the bottom of the box using cursor keys
  • Merge layers using “Merge Visible” ( Shift+Ctrl+e). Don’t use “Flatten Image”; you may lose transparency
  • Crop the not used bottom part of the Canvas.
  • Save your orb using png format ( Shift+Ctrl+s) (jpg does not support transparency)
