Blackthorn - Captain of the Guard[edit]

Blackthorn.jpg

Type: Giant (List)

Race: Ogre (List)

Monster Manual classification: Ogre

Alignment: Unknown

Boss: Red Named - Quest Boss

CR:  ♦11Normal ♠16Elite

Habitat:

Description:

  • Blackthorn tells you, "Ah! Anyone who has made it this far into Markessa's lair must be powerful indeed!
I Blackthorn, am just a simple servant, a pawn held under Markessa's evil thumb.
Would you perhaps consider a bargain - spare my life in exchange for some valuable information?"
  • You tell Blackthorn, "Why should I believe a word you say? You're in league with the Slave Lords!"
  • Blackthorn tells you, "Then there is no need to grovel to you, impudent rabble!"
  • You tell Blackthorn, "Hmm, Yes, if you give me information, then I'd let you leave peacefully."
  • Blackthorn tells you, "I am humbled by your munificence!
Here is my information. The lady Markessa has crafted a cunning stand-in that resembles her in every way. Beware of Markessa and her creations!
Now if you will excuse me, I shall be on my way."
  • You tell Blackthorn, "Allow Blackthorn to leave."

Allowing Blackthorn to leave will forfeit the loot and ingredient chests received for killing him. There does not seem to be a way to prevent him from leaving after taking his information.
