Archer Ranger vs Fighter[edit]

Hey, I hope I am doing this right. I think I found an error with an edit you made on a page (I_would_like_to_create_an_Archer._Should_I_pick_a_Ranger_or_a_Fighter?) . On the page describing whether to choose Ranger or Fighter to make an archer you note that the Fighter should take "Fighter Extra 14 Two-Weapon Fighting" feat even though the build includes Ranger Level 2. Ranger Level 2 includes Two-Weapon Fighting for free, so I think listing this skill here is a duplication. What do you think?--Rinimand 18:02, January 27, 2011 (EST)

oh ya thats right. just corrected it, i wasn't serious on that ranger18/ftr2 build idea anyways so feel free to add your thoughts. --yoko5000 20:41, January 27, 2011 (EST)
Great. I haven't perused much of the suggested "builds" on the net, but I am coming up with my own home-grown Rogue3/Ranger6/Fighter11 which I hope is an alternative to your Fighter-Archer idea. Ever since the PnP days I've like the idea of an Archer but wanted to find alternatives to the cookie-cutter "Ranger=Archer".--Rinimand 15:21, January 28, 2011 (EST)

Summons pics, Home[edit]

(Sorry if I'm posting in the wrong area) Next week or so ill be putting up pics of the Black bone series of skellys for Pale Master and I know ahead of time that when I put the pics in I will butcher (to put it lightly) the Pale Master page because the pics will push everything around so if I don't figure it out (wiki tends to hate me) your probably going to have to fix it if you want to keep the pictures there(just a heads up). Thanks for fixing my previous posts too.

Also you might want to put a few pictures or some eye candy on the main page it looks kind boring and probably repels some new players at first glance.

Ohh I like the new homepage :D --Jarredkh3 (Contribs • Message)

I like the new Home page! Looks good, got some gorgeous pictures there. -LrdSlvrhnd 16:16, February 7, 2011 (EST)

Cauldron of Sora Katra loot[edit]

I just created A Category for this  by the simple expedient of copying the Recipe Table from the Cauldron of Sora Katra page... and then I turned that into a category link. Now, this seems like it's a fairly major change, so I figured I'd let you know just in case you happened to miss the two big changes right there in a row and wanted to "ack, no!" and undo it. It LOOKS like it should work, but I'm not 100% positive... but I was getting tired of seeing all those red category links at the bottom of the weapon pages! -LrdSlvrhnd 02:47, February 9, 2011 (EST)

fair enough, yea i think its time for us to implement rules and template functions for those kind of crafted items. you know its not just sol katra items, there are epic items, maber items as so on. --yoko5000 03:06, February 9, 2011 (EST)

Category for upcoming Event Items[edit]

I tryd to do the same as LrdSlvrhnd for the upcoming birthday Event. I already created a page for the details of the Smugglers Rest Event however I struggle a bit with the Category of the items. The page of the Smugglers Rest Event Items  exist, but somehow it doesn't seem to recognize it as a proper Category. At least at the bottom it claim 'This category currently contains no pages or media.' and the main page miss the Category link. What do I wrong here? --SisAmethyst 19:57, February 10, 2011 (EST)

nothing will show up on the cat list unless you create individual item pages and tag em with [[Category:ItsCategoryName]]. for this kinda item categories, we have auto categorying function, on item templates, for chest loot and reward items but not for event items yet . just tag em manually for now. btw, i prefer Smuggler Rest event items  but its not like i cant live with it so its up to you. --yoko5000 20:57, February 10, 2011 (EST)
Yes, thought something along this, but it was late in the night for me :) ... I don't really care about the Category Name as long as users can find the needed information. It seems that the general Syntax is to keep 'reward items' small, so I am absolutely fine to change this ;) Thanks for taking a look on it ... SisAmethyst 12:36, February 11, 2011 (EST)
Btw. adding all those new items I stumbled over False Life (enhancement) not including the Superior False Life. Only problem is that it currently only show up on Epic items like the Epic Dusk Heart and not as an item suffix of general loot. So I can't really make use of the template over there. So I added it as a manual remark. -- SisAmethyst 19:23, February 11, 2011 (EST)

Uploading a new version for an existent file...[edit]

For some reason I can no longer upload new versions for existent files (the option to do so is gone from the file pages) and deleting files is no longer possible either. Can you look into it? I suspect it has something to do with the merging of img.enterwiki.net with ddowiki.com. -- by Mjoll 03:15, February 13, 2011 (EST)

I ran into the same problem as well. The best way around it is to just upload a new file, use the same name as the old file, it will find it and when it's uploaded... it will replace it.--Delphis 04:05, February 13, 2011 (EST)

Broken links to Enterwiki[edit]

I came across some broken links to Enterwiki. Especially in some templates like Template:Wikify. As the original source seems to completely missing I recreated the page Wikify and How to wikify a page with links and references. Maybe the info in 'Wikify' can be moved to an internal Glossary or directly link e.g. to the Wikipedia Glossary. But as the page seem to have existed as such before I just recreated it. -- SisAmethyst 15:18, March 5, 2011 (EST)

jsut checked em out, cool. way better than what we actually had on enterwiki. --yoko5000 18:14, March 5, 2011 (EST)
Thanks for the feedback, still need some fine tuning. To be honest I never really saw the original version :) --SisAmethyst 16:21, March 10, 2011 (EST)

enterwiki.net[edit]

Hey, it looks like the domain registration for enterwiki.net expired and was bought by a domain name reseller. I never actually owned that domain name. I don't think there are many links that go to the old meta.enterwiki.net, ddo.enterwiki.net, or img.enterwiki.net. I am working on finding any that are left. If you see any let me know though, because the links will now be completely broken. --Xevo 16:42, March 6, 2011 (EST)

ya, been working on that, announced that on DDO forum as well [1] so we shouldnt have too much trouble. oh btw and one guy on the thread asked to changing font color on the search bar, can you take a look into that as well? --yoko5000 01:07, March 7, 2011 (EST)
We can use the search function to get most of them I guess. As I entered 'enterwiki' I got still about 1000 hits, but not all of them are links thou --SisAmethyst 16:19, March 10, 2011 (EST)

magnitude 8.9 earthquake in japan[edit]

Please fix the sandbox[edit]

People like Shoemaker are getting a bit crazy on history/Category:Treasure_of_Crystal_Cove_loot
I know a few people never use the preview button, but it can get a little out of hand.

Give them a little sandbox to test their stuff in. Neouni 16:17, March 21, 2011 (EDT)

we most def need a better way to do that page. how about separating hat upgrades from item listings? i dont know what you mean by "sandbox", cant ppl do that on their user page anyways? --yoko5000 20:00, March 21, 2011 (EDT)
oh now i see what you mean on tech13 part... you coulda hit his talk page. dont be shy giving shit to people when you need to! shit happens, deal with it. --yoko5000 23:02, March 21, 2011 (EDT)
I do use the live preview button, and it works great for everything except table sorting.. The only way to test sorting as far as I have found is to post the page and see how it loads.. As far as the Crystal Cove page goes, I believe it will need to be divided into multiple sections or it is going to get HUGE.. Tables are so much easier to read than the alternative that was there.. Even Neouni was having some issues there in getting the tables to display properly, I would have much more appreciated a note in my talk page then getting blocked for two hours which forced me to use notepad to create the other stuff I wanted to make..--Shoemaker 23:42, March 21, 2011 (EDT)

no, i wasnt talking about tables. i was talking about this! scroll down to weapons and stuff. and i didnt ban you?! dont bring everything to me lol. you know, gahh! im at work! you and neo need to talk directly --yoko5000 02:22, March 22, 2011 (EDT)

Treasure of Crystal Cove loot [edit]

For some reason linking to {{:Ornamented Dagger}} seems to be causing a display issue on the epic tier.. There are extra carriage returns somewhere causing two extra line feeds in efficient metamagic.. I've tried finding and fixing it in Ornamented_Dagger and Template:Efficient Metamagic to no avail.. I'm going to let someone else take a look before I mess things up.. Posting this on talk page for Treasure_of_Crystal_Cove_loot as well. -- User:Technical 13 14:57, April 2, 2011 (EDT)

Vertical Alignment[edit]

Keep wondering why the tables here, have it turned at top by default, while other wiki systems like mediawiki for example have it at center ?

Example: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Help:Tables#Vertical_alignment --Neouni

show me example on this site plz? how is that when you add "?useskin=sparseman" on the url (or use sParser mode link on the toolbox)? if it changes that then thats because of elliott's truglass skin, which is default skin of this site. you can change it by going into Special:Preferences. however many of html codings (such as pyxe tables, hoverover popups) get broken with non-default skin so we kinda have to go stick with it, for now... (see User_talk:Xevo#img.enterwiki.net) --yoko5000 00:26, April 4, 2011 (EDT)
oh i see it now, this and this huh? lol --yoko5000 00:50, April 4, 2011 (EDT)
On other wiki's they don't use html coding to make popups, it's a scripted.
Scripts are not effected by skins, so thats the problem on this wiki for skins Neouni 10:14, April 9, 2011 (EDT)

Stat template[edit]

You can't have the plus in the template like that where the template is designed to handle both positive AND negative stats.. Examples:

I think I might have an idea to make a universal fix for this sign/no sign problem.. replacing every {{{2}}} with {{ #ifexpr:{{{2|0}}}< 0|{{#expr:0+{{{2|0}}}}}|+{{#expr:0+{{{2|0}}}}}}} seems to have worked... This checks if it was pos or neg and return + or - the number. I have been going through all of the named items one at a time and inserting/tweaking all of the information to use the templates I am aware of that are available..
I completed a first pass of all named weapons A-E last night, but this is going to take a little time..
As a process of going through and tweaking all of this information to be more productive and using all of these templates so much, I am finding many little tweaks needing to be made to the templates themselves. Problem is that some of them that need it the most are protected, may I have access to go in and fix them. :D -- User:Technical 13

hmm... didnt we have {{minusstat}} or somethin for that...? did you get rid of it? re:Special:ProtectedPages. named item templates are sysop protected, so you now have permission. --yoko5000 00:06, April 14, 2011 (EDT)
We did (and as far as I know, do still) have that... but I think having just one for both + and - makes sense. Same with skills. - LrdSlvrhnd 00:19, April 14, 2011 (EDT)
I actually made a skills template that did that, but some didn't like it.. In my eyes, the purpose of a template is to be universal and be able to look for whether a stat/skill etc is +/- or exceptional or whatever the case may be.. It is ok if what is in the template is complicated, as long as what most people have to use is simple.. Having separate templates for everything just makes us editors have to remember more templates and some of them go Strength name power and others go name strength power and others go ... whatever.. my point is it is a pain to remember what order the arguments have to go in, if it is the same everytime, it is easier.. Consolidating templates makes it the same.. --Technical_13-- ShoeMaker 00:26, April 14, 2011 (EDT)
I was one of the ones that didn't like that skills template, but that was because (IMHO) we had a perfectly good skill template that simply needed a little bit (Well,OK. I have no idea how much tweaking it would require. But hasta be less than creating another whole template from scratch...) of tweaking to add the minus, like you did with the stats... rather than having yet another template. And also, the wordiness of the popups was rather extreme. -LrdSlvrhnd 00:30, April 14, 2011 (EDT)

Moving images..[edit]

How do I move 'Media:Adpack_dreaming_dark.jpg' to 'Media:Adpack_Reaver's_Refuge.jpg'?

--Technical_13-- ShoeMaker 12:07, April 14, 2011 (EDT)

Media:Adpack_dreamingdark.jpg already exists, and is correct, but because 'Media:Adpack_dreaming_dark.jpg' was incorrect, I simply re-uploaded it and wiki prompted me when the file already existed. -- Taurolyon 03:08, April 30, 2011 (EDT)

Current article count on Home[edit]

I don't know what you are getting at with your comment, "soemthing on xevo's side (caching, seo thing, i dont know) doesnt work with that, check page history."

This:                 * '''{{NUMBEROFARTICLES}} articles''' and growing daily!
Produces:         17,727 articles and growing daily!
Looks like:       5,147 articles and growing daily!
ShoeMaker 19:34, April 29, 2011 (EDT)

You weren't claiming they didn't display properly.. Just that Xevo had removed them once before.. I'll send him an email about that.. may no longer be an issue with the version upgrade... ShoeMaker 19:34, April 29, 2011 (EDT)

ya, its totally up to him. we had {{NUMBEROFARTICLES}} for a long time before he changed that too. --yoko5000 20:53, April 29, 2011 (EDT)

Swapping left and right columns..[edit]

This seems to have broken some pages... Maybe it is just the fact that it is change, but I liked it better the way it was.. I'm right handed like the majority of people, and having the site navigational bar on the right was more convenient. ShoeMaker 00:21, May 6, 2011 (EDT)

EEP! Change! *confused* O_o --- but seriously, I'm agreed with Shoe, while this does look more Wiki-ish, I feel it was a bit more user friendly the old way. -- Taurolyon 00:38, May 6, 2011 (EDT)

change wasnt made by me. in fact i have no idea what caused it (side-effect of software update?). please list whats broken now btw. --yoko5000 03:21, May 6, 2011 (EDT)

I agree I was more used to the old way ... However I guess you can change this in 'My preferences' --> Appearance ... right now the default is set to Truglass2 -- SisAmethyst 10:38, May 8, 2011 (EDT)

to-delete template ?[edit]

Trying to take a look at 'Special pages' --> 'Short pages' I noticed that several of those short pages are stubs of information that has already been added at different places. Therefore the redundant data could be deleted. Would it make sense to have a small to-delete template added to this page with a hint/reference that content is moved/replaced, so that it could be found more easily and then deleted (see e.g. Epic Treasure Hunter's Spyglass )? -- SisAmethyst 10:46, May 8, 2011 (EDT)

Conversation continued on SisAmethyst's talk page. ShoeMaker 19:26, May 8, 2011 (EDT)

Armor/Robes[edit]

Is it just me or is happening to others aswell? The "show armor by minimum level" and robes are blank.

I'm investigating this.. The categories must have been emptied somewhere and chances are that something Neouni or myself have done to the templates in the last month or two have caused this.. -- ShoeMaker 14:26, May 27, 2011 (EDT)
Okay, I've researched back one year and cannot find where these items where put into this category.. How long ago did this stop working? Knowing this page, and the related ones, exist will be useful in aiding me in making my fully functioning "Named Item" template project. I'll put up a note telling visitors that page is down for maintenance for now. -- ShoeMaker 14:45, May 27, 2011 (EDT)

Augment Crystals[edit]

I've re-vamped Template:Augment on a sandbox so that it lists your choices when you mouse-over it. Some of the lists are kind of long, and I would like some input on if you guys think this revised template should be implemented. Here are the examples:

I am posting this on the talk pages of: Xevo, Yoko5000, Neouni, Borror0, UltraMonk, Backley, Shade, Raute borge, Yawgmoth, and LrdSlvrhnd Where-as I am posting this on multiple talk pages to get more opinion, I have included "Reply here" link as well ShoeMaker 18:53, May 29, 2011 (EDT)

In game UI skins..[edit]

Hey Yoko, where did you find the skin to make the effect that puts the % # for hp/sp in the focus orb like what is seen in

Media:Crafting_Vorace.jpg

?? ShoeMaker 16:16, August 1, 2011 (EDT)

thats from japanese fansite somewhere back in like 2008, before the closure of japanese servers. so it probably isnt available anymore. but i have seen several other skins doing the same thing. → yoko5000 23:18, August 1, 2011 (EDT)

Vandalism to tank page by anon user 98.116.25.59[edit]

Requesting block for 98.116.25.59. Perhaps a temp one as it's minor.

Keeps removing useful information from the tank page. Really poor form to try to say Barbarians aren't popular tanks with me anyways, having helped thousands of players tank every raid in the game with my barbarian builds. --Shade 19:48, August 29, 2011 (EDT)

its controversy rather than vandalism. it should be noted that a damage mitigation mechanic (AC) is almost non-existent at end game, thus making Pal and Ftr Defender sucks balls and making FrB Bbn ideal tank for most situations. the article clearly states that any class can fill the roll tough. --yoko5000 20:52, August 29, 2011 (EDT)

Category structure[edit]

Ok been trying to help clean up the categories.. Especially filling the ones with lots of members and put them in teh right spot. I took a look at ur category structure page but I don't see this really clearly covered as i gues its a bit dated.. Lately been trying to clean up item entries, I like to have them "complete" when i do a edit, since overall I avoid editing item entries unless I think i can get them to be complete in our format that gives lots of info, else i use JJ's itemdb which is much cleaner atm..

Anyways it looks like we have a ton of dead categories due to template updates over the years. EG: Unique Weapons by minimum level  - could prolly be deleted. And lots of new ones with many members but no place to go: eg: Minimum Level 12 weapons

Lately i've just been putting them all in Items by minimum level .. Seems ok since Id like them to be near the top of hte item cat, and not burried under huge piles of members like the unique weapons cat, which would require you to click thru 10 pages to get to other subcats..

But should we instead have only subcats in the items by minimum level, for each item types. EG items, weapons, armor, etc? --Shade 12:25, September 9, 2011 (EDT)

Wouldn't let me a move a page..[edit]

Was cleaning up some raid pages.. And noticed the quest name wasn't linking to the actual quest page.. Which imo is wrong since they are by far the most accessed pages and contain the most important information. That and 99% of quest name link to quest page.. Thus we should try to keep it that way for consistancy reasons. I just rediret The Thirteenth Eclipse as that seemed ok since the other name was the dungeon name (The Shroud).

But twilight forge was listed as "The Twilight Forge (quest)" which looks bad.. Wouldn't let me do a normal move, So I actaully moved that one with a copy paste to the proper page The Twilight Forge. Only issue with that is the history details are now on the redirect page. So if we wanna keep the history connected to the right article I think u'll need to delete the page, and move the redirect page over with the correct history. --Shade 15:28, September 11, 2011 (EDT)

er, no, the Thirteenth Eclipse is a name on journal, not quest (adventure instance) name. theres a long story on this one. its all up to what you mean by "actual quest name". read quest article for this definition and a compromise we did. --yoko5000 21:56, September 11, 2011 (EDT)
I'm correct in that that is infact the "quest name" as far as the game lists it. But you're correct in that "The Shroud" is the proper name actaully for a different reason:
I mean Quest Journal lists "quests".. By Quest name, and thats what it is.
Adventure Compendium lists most everything, and what I was wrong about is that we don't list article names by Quest name, but infact we use "Adventure Name". 95%+ of quests the Questname and Adventure name is infact the same, thats what confused me.. In this case it isn't.. Aventure compium says:
Adventure: The Shroud (Also what shows up when you set up an lfm)
Quest: The Thirteeth Eclipse
Enter: The Shroud
And the quest Journal does list multi-part quests by "story-arc" .. Which can also be different (lol that makes 4 seperate names for whats usually the same thing), but in this case the Shrouds Storyarc is the same as the quest name - and infact thats usually the case for 99% of quests if not 100%.
And yea I get why listing by quest name is poor.. As looking at what we usually refer to as "the waterworks" series.. The questname for all four parts is the same "The Lost Seekers".. So that might be a bit confusing. Instead we go by adventure name, which is fine.. Tho I think a few quests/raids are still listed incorrectly as dungeon name, or quest name.
And yea redirecting "The Thirteeth Eclipse" to the story arc vs the quest of the same name doesn't matter much since there all linked together anyways.
lol to further confuse things just noticed this: The LFM panel reverses all the names on the mouse over - Lists Shroud as "quest" and Thirtenth Eclipse as "adventure" .. hah typical turbine. I'm gonna just shrug that one off as a bug tho.
Now to further confuse things theres The Lord of Blades.. Listed with an upper case Of in the compendium heh, yet with a lowercase of in the Quest Journal/LFM panel mouse over. I think since the majority of the times the game references that name it uses lowercase, and since thats the correct gramatical usage we should keep it lower cased tho. Just looks silly to me to copy that obvious error.

sitenotice[edit]

Thanks for putting up the site notice when the hack hit the wiki. I feel I should apologize for removing it. I really didn't think anything happened at first. I was humbled by the whole situation..I thought the wiki was secure. If anything positive has come out it all, it's that I have doubled by efforts at securing the server.--Xevo 13:01, October 2, 2011 (EDT)
