Welcome![edit]

May I extend my warmest welcomes and offer you any help you may need? Thanks for your contributions, mate!

If you need help with something...

...I'm always available! You can drop a message on my user talk page (which I watch like a hawk) or grab my other contact info on my user page.
...There's a wealth of wiki documentation on the meta wiki, perhaps some of it may be of use to you.
...There's a really good Introduction over on meta also, it should help you figure out what's going on if your new to wikis in general.

I'd like to hear a reply! Just click Edit above, and write a message under where mine ends - then, at the end of your message (on the same line) type four tildes (Like this: ~~~~) to automatically insert a nickname linked to your user page, and a date/time signature!

Again, welcome to the wiki - and I can't thank you enough on behalf of the community for your help in making us the best DDO site around (-;

Hello. I've been tinkering around with the new player q&a section of the forums for the past 6 months or so, but the information I presented there always scrolled off the bottom of the first page within a few days, so I finally got fed up and started looking for another way to help. I was very happy to find this site and start editing the few pages I did.

I did a lot of it from work, where I don't have access to some specific game stats, so some of what I posted might need to be checked for specific accuracy, but my opinions and specific advice is all based on personal experience, from the dozen or so characters I capped out before I left DDO.

I finally got tired of the low populations and the complete lack of any guilds that fit my playstyle, and I cancelled my DDO account, so I don't think I'll be posting anything more here. I just came back to see if anyone had edited any of the material I've posted. I'm curious what things people will take exception to, and what they will change.

If you (or anyone else) go to the DDO forums and search for posts in the newbie q&a and newbie harbor areas by NameisToad, I'm sure you'll find other things I've written that can be copied here. I officially have no problem with this, I'm just not willing to take the time to do the work involved.

Thanks for creating/maintaining this forum for the free dispensation of ideas and advice, and I hope all goes well for you and DDO in the future. NameisToad 14:39, April 2, 2007 (EDT)

I'd say sad to see you leave the game, but I myself don't even play so I wouldn't know d-: Thanks for what you have already contributed to the site, and good luck with whatever you do! If you start playing any other MMO type games, be sure to let me know - people with your helpful disposition are always useful around the network, even if I have to create a new wiki to house them (-:

Adios!→ Mr. Cable 05:31, April 9, 2007 (EDT)

I played LotRO for a short while, got fed up with it, and came back to DDO. Merlask posted a detailed look at the different servers and I'm trying to build up characters on a different server that may be better suited to my tastes. We'll see how it goes, but I'm enjoying the population on Argonnesen much better than what I remember from Riedra.→ NameisToad 00:37, July 10, 2007 (EDT)

Hehe nice then - For the moment, Borror0 took the steward position, you'll have to go to him if you think you need sysop privileges to do your editing. elliottcable (talk, site) 07:30, July 10, 2007 (EDT)

I don't know anything about wiki, including whatever sysop priviledges would allow. I'll just chug along as I am until I try to do something and it stops me. Then I'll talk to Borror0 about further priviledges... If I don't find a way around it first. :)

Thanks for this great tool, man. I think it has the ability to help a lot of people enjoy the game more.→ NameisToad 09:48, July 10, 2007 (EDT)

Welcome back!

I know you from the official forum and I know you are helping people the best as you can. Like Peerless said, if you need more priviledge, just ask. :)And yes, this is a great tool, that needs a lot of cleaning. I'll work on the enhancements until they are up to date. (I'm also clicking some links from time to time to see what they look like and edit if they need too , which is 85% of the time. -_-)

Do you have any project? Any section you really want to work on? → Borror0 12:41, July 10, 2007 (EDT)

Thanks. :)

I tend to focus on the newbie guide and other areas intended to help new players out. I created some of those areas, and I'll go back and fill in the areas I missed earlier, and try to make sure the information currently up there is up-to-date.

When I see something that's wrong, or that is only right part of the time, I'll usually try to clarify it, but the newbie areas are really where I enjoy working.→ NameisToad 12:56, July 10, 2007 (EDT)

Ok, I had that section in my bulleye has I saw lots of potential in it. Glad to see them being improved.

Just one thing, be careful to the interal links you select. For example, in the wizard newbie guide, you wrote (maybe it's not you but it is there) metamagic feat. metamagic doesn't exist but metamagic feat exists. Just try to avoid those, or try to correct them when you see them. :)

Oh, and thanks for clarifying the Strength article, I sometime s*ck at making clear statements.→ Borror0 17:13, July 10, 2007 (EDT)

Ok, Metamagic example is now fixed. I'm likely to make that mistake a lot, honestly. I have trouble remembering what's on the wiki and what's not. Maybe I'll start keeping a second window open to do searches for the right headings...

As far as clarifying the Strength article, I wouldn't be too hard on yourself. You knew it needed to be looked at. You marking it as needing verification was what brought my attention to it. My playing a Ranger/Rogue hybrid to Level 9 is what gave me the definitive knowledge to fix the section. Consider it a collaborative effort and we'll get a whole lot done. :)→ NameisToad 19:27, July 10, 2007 (EDT)

Yeah, I think teamwork is the way to go, if you don't mind, just read all my edits and add things if you think they belong. :)→ Borror0 22:07, July 11, 2007 (EDT)

Regarding the sysop privs, the most important are patrolling for edits on the wiki, and delete and whatnot (see this page on the metawiki for more info on what privs go with what rank]]). I already took the liberty of promoting you to superuser, which is just sort of a way of saying you edit a lot and are useful around the site (-: Thanks again, and I'm glad somebody is focusing on the various nooblet-oriented areas of the site! elliottcable (talk, site) 18:01, July 10, 2007 (EDT)

Thanks for the high praise, good sir. I'll do my best to live up to it. :)→ NameisToad 19:27, July 10, 2007 (EDT)

Newbie guide[edit]

Dude. That guide is awesome. Thanks so very much for putting all that hard work into it! Make sure to give it some linking love on the forums to, to let people know it's there!→ Mr. Cable 18:09, March 29, 2007 (EDT)
