Welcome![edit]

May I extend my warmest welcomes and offer you any help you may need? Thanks for your contributions, mate!

If you need help with something...

...I'm always available! You can drop a message on my user talk page (which I watch like a hawk) or grab my other contact info on my user page.
...There's a wealth of wiki documentation on the meta wiki, perhaps some of it may be of use to you.
...There's a really good Introduction over on meta also, it should help you figure out what's going on if your new to wikis in general.

I'd like to hear a reply! Just click Edit above, and write a message under where mine ends - then, at the end of your message (on the same line) type four tildes (Like this: ~~~~) to automatically insert a nickname linked to your user page, and a date/time signature!

Again, welcome to the wiki - and I can't thank you enough on behalf of the community for your help in making us the best DDO site around (-;

Enhancement pages[edit]

Are you creating those as you go? If so, you might want to change the enhancement entries on the character article template to links too, so the users creating characters know they can link them. [e] · t & c 19:05, December 27, 2006 (EST)

That might be beyond my scope of understanding Wiki programming but if you can show me :) ... - Highway 19:10, December 27, 2006 (EST)
Mmkay. I'll take care of it then. It's not difficult - wikiML isn't as hard as it seems at first. (-: [e] · t & c 19:31, December 27, 2006 (EST)

Templates[edit]

I reverted one of your edits - the character's name shouldn't be the heading of a section, just a kinda big prelude to the character description. And on the other page, I see you found out how to do that! (-: [e] · t & c 20:09, December 27, 2006 (EST)

Yeah, I saw... Dunno, maybe a little too big but I see where you're going with the style. - Highway 20:11, December 27, 2006 (EST)
Just remove one of those odd '<big></big>' widget pairs then (-; [e] · t & c 20:14, December 27, 2006 (EST)
Done. - Highway 20:19, December 27, 2006 (EST)

Category structure[edit]

I think I have an idea - instead of creating a second page for the NCL on these, why not put the NCL on the category page itself? That way users can use either system - :Category:Drow_on_Lhazaar|here's an example. [e] · t & c 20:09, December 28, 2006 (EST)

Sounds/looks ... make the final style change you want and I will use that for future creations. - Highway 20:13, December 28, 2006 (EST)
Ok, give me a moment... elliottcable (talk, site) 20:36, December 28, 2006 (EST)
I'm working on Template:Charactercategory/category at the moment. When it's finished, I'll let you know, and you can use it on the character's categories. Gotta love wikiML! (-: elliottcable (talk, site) 20:55, December 28, 2006 (EST)
Got it! You can go use it now, see Template talk:Charactercategory/category for some basic instructions. elliottcable (talk, site) 21:45, December 28, 2006 (EST)

Personal code[edit]

Re: this edit - I didn't mean you couldn't use the .css and .js settings, I just meant if you don't know what your doing edits like this are a bad idea. Why did you delete the JS code? Also, you were trying to put it in the wrong place - I am beginning to assume your a sometimes wikipedia editor, no? We aren't wikipedia, or like them in any way really. Our code branched out around 4 versions ago, and since then has migrated far from the nest so to speak - the number of hacks and extensions, not to mention this design, are all of my hard work. Very little but some of the parser code is true to the original script. Trying to use tools developed for Wikipedia won't work here, without major hackanatage (I invented a word! yay!). elliottcable (talk, site) 21:23, December 28, 2006 (EST)

You around?[edit]

Hey - I saw you edit a character page just now, but you haven't removed the PPoIs here nor replied to any of the conversations. In any case, I'm setting up a sort of forum for the wiki - tell me what you think when I finish! elliottcable (talk, site) 04:20, January 6, 2007 (EST)

What does PPoIs stand for again? - Highway 16:38, January 10, 2007 (EST)
umm the points of interest notices? Possible Point of Interest, a PPoI note is like... sigh whatever, it should be pretty obvious if you look at the top of this page. You leave people a PPoI note if you want them to notice something? And when you read somebody else's PPoI note, you remove it... right? I had assumed you'd had expierence with wiki before, but sorry if I wasn't explaining things enough lol. Mr. Cable 02:04, January 11, 2007 (EST)
sorry, never used PPoI or that notation. - Highway 02:07, January 11, 2007 (EST)
That's fine lol, my bad then lol. Feel free to use the PPoI template all you like. Mr. Cable 02:24, January 11, 2007 (EST)

Edit summaries[edit]

Just so you know... when you use the welcome templates (I assume you got them off my wonderfully useful /temps page?) make sure you correctly sign them - the edit summary should look something like this: /* Welcome! */ - specifically because that adds a nice useful link in places like recent changes directly to the section. Same applies to replying to conversations - if you reply here, something like /* Edit summaries */ Replied. would be appropriate. Just letting you know (-: Mr. Cable 02:39, January 11, 2007 (EST)

Sysop[edit]

You learn quick, mate. As long as you think you can keep up your current edit rate or at least hang around as much as you currently do, I'm considering offering you a sysop position (If nothing else, I'm getting tired of patrolling your edits *wink*). Any thoughts? Mr. Cable 18:33, January 11, 2007 (EST)

Do I get a salary? (j/k)
I'll be around :) - Highway 18:45, January 11, 2007 (EST)
Ha you wish - even I don't make any money off of these sites. Just pour time into them lol. Ok, done! Welcome to the ranks, Sysop Hiwae! Mr. Cable 18:59, January 11, 2007 (EST)
Thank you... thank you.
- Highway 19:05, January 11, 2007 (EST)

New post template![edit]

Woot! Just finished tweaking the CSS for this post template - so go ahead and use it! Format of {{SUBST:Post|reply #|~~~~|(linebreak) post content! wootage}}. Have fun! (-;

Mr. Cable 02:24, January 12, 2007 (EST)

Welcome templates changed[edit]

Just so you know, since I know you use them too, the welcome templates have been changed to use the new post template - thus the subst: formula has changed too. An example of possible usage is available on my temps page. Mr. Cable 11:44, January 18, 2007 (EST)

Ping[edit]

Hey, mate, you around? Haven't seen you in a while - have you quit the MMORPG scene? Mr. Cable 19:19, April 27, 2007 (EDT)→ Mr. Cable 19:19, April 27, 2007 (EDT)
