Deletion request[edit]

Hi, I have now deleted the page. For the future, you can also use any of the following

  • Add {{delete}} to the page to flag it for deletion. An admin will eventually notice it and act as appropriate.
  • Add {{InstantDelete}} to the page.
  • Make it a redirect to the correct article.

Good luck and happy editing! -- Cru121 (ContribsMessage) 10:47, July 30, 2018 (EDT)

  • I actually recreated the page as a redirect because it was a plausible search term. If you request something to be deleted with {{Delete}} or {{Instantdelete}}, please make sure to use the |reason= parameter and/or include a reason in the edit summary and/or start a discussion on the talk page of why it should be deleted. Thanks! DDOstream (ContribsMessage) 10:35, August 1, 2018 (EDT)

Monsters in quest[edit]

Hi, you did everything correctly, one last missing step was to create Category:Monsters_in_Reach_for_the_Sky with the content {{Monsters in quest}}. Once you add habitat to monsters, it adds mobs to the appropriate categories. Check for red category links (non-existing categories) at the bottom of the article, and feel free to create them as needed. -- Cru121 (ContribsMessage) 04:42, May 29, 2019 (EDT)

Wiki Edit-quette[edit]

First great job on the work you're doing. Couple things that you want to keep in mind...
1) If you haven't already, read through this forum thread. When creating a "new" article such as that, yes, it has to start somewhere - just put a big "disclaimer" on it until everything has been checked, OR (better) don't post it until after you've actually run it so you're at least passingly familiar with any glaring changes. And/or make liberal use of the {{verify}}needs verification tag. No big, it happens (kinda has to, at some level!), just pointing it out fyi.
2) Wiki editing is anonymous; editors don't give themselves (or, usually, others) credit in the articles they edit. This helps to remove "ego" from the equation. Add your name only to User/talk and Article/discussion pages. (This is specifically re Finding Dorris). If you feel the need to comment to readers, keep it in the impersonal "editorial voice" - "There appears to be...", not "I found...". If only future editors need to see the comment, use the <!-- Hidden Note to Editors --> code. (Note hat some older articles mention forum contributors ("Lost Leader" walk-thrus, for example) - this is winked at out of longstanding tradition, and occasionally major non-editor sources are credited, but is not "as a rule" encouraged moving forward.)
Again, gj, thanks for all your contributions, keep it up! C-Hound (ContribsMessage) 23:39, April 17, 2020 (EDT)

  • C-Hound, Thank you for the encouragement. I am no where near the wiki expert that you probably are. I picked it up because I found that there was information that I was looking for that wasn't here. I did a bunch of stuff, and then real life intervened. I use(d) a lot of copy/paste and I found that I have a style of writing that works the best for me. I do my best, and oftentimes it is in the wee hours of the morning when I do my wiki work, after a long day of being me. Thank you also for cleaning up the pages that I have done/edited to make them more wiki user friendly. GMTrojan (Contribs⇑ top ⇑)

RE: Monster entries without pics[edit]

Hey there. Are you talking about Monsters without image ? It says 500 for me currently. It takes up to 48 hours for caching to update things like that. You can make it go faster by purging the cache for the page, if you really need to see it working. It's best to let the cache do it's thing though at it's own pace. :)  👟 ShoeMaker (Contribs • Message) 👟 14:00, June 3, 2021 (EDT)

  • Thank you! I just was wondering if it was an issue with the wiki or just something like what you said. I expect it to change soon... Be well and have a great weekend! GMTrojan (Contribs⇑ top ⇑) 15:45, June 4, 2021 (EDT)
    • Hate to jump into your conversation, but actually, some of those pages have been there for 6 months and more. I think it's a problem with Template:Monster myself as all the affected pages have .png file types as their image. PurpleSerpent (ContribsMessage) 15:52, June 4, 2021 (EDT)
    • Well then, maybe we should change them all to *.jpg. Is this possible with a sort of "batch command" from someone with wiki-fu greater than me? GMTrojan (Contribs⇑ top ⇑) 15:55, June 4, 2021 (EDT)
      • Surely it would be easier to fix the template? As I see it, it only needs one line changed. (Not sure which, and we'd need someone authorised to edit templates, but it would be much less work overall.) PurpleSerpent (ContribsMessage) 15:58, June 4, 2021 (EDT)
        • To elaborate, the line of code scanning the image parameter has a section checking the last four letters of the image name. If those are equal to ".jpg", the monster is removed from Monsters without image. All that needs to be done is add a little more code so that ".png" is also checked for. PurpleSerpent (ContribsMessage) 16:27, June 4, 2021 (EDT)
        • Or, 26 of us can each pick a letter, then manually download each image from the letter, and then rename and reupload the image. Brute force it into submission... GMTrojan (Contribs⇑ top ⇑) 16:48, June 4, 2021 (EDT)
          • God, no. Banality aside, the reason I use .png as an upload format is because if I saved the image as a JPEG, my already-crowded hard drive would fill up in a week. I'd have to abandon my quest to empty the category, which I am reluctant to do. However, as things stand, I might (hopefully) be getting promoted to Administrator pretty soon, which means I'd be able to fix it myself. Let's try that first. PurpleSerpent (ContribsMessage) 16:57, June 4, 2021 (EDT)
      • Drat. Scratch all that, I've just realised it can't be an issue with the template, or all 696 of the monsters I've photographed would be on the category and they aren't. Let me try something else. I'll make a null edit to Abishai Executioner, which I know shouldn't be there, and see if it does anything. PurpleSerpent (ContribsMessage) 19:04, June 4, 2021 (EDT)
        • Got it! I know what the problem is now! As an experiment, today I tried uploading an image of Scorchtusk before I added the image name to the monster itself. It was removed from the category immediately. The problem is that the template checks whether to remove the image from Category:Monsters without image only when the value in the image section is changed. So if you add the name of the image before uploading it, the page is never removed. All we need to do to fix a page stuck in said category is to make two edits: delete the image name, then put it back again (you might need to do this twice to get it to stick, and I'd suggest navigating to another page and back between the two.) That saves a lot of work. PurpleSerpent (ContribsMessage) 12:34, June 5, 2021 (EDT)
        • That sounds a lot like my brute force method, but I'm game to get it done, when I get time from watching a new puppy... GMTrojan (Contribs⇑ top ⇑) 17:27, June 5, 2021 (EDT)
          • Possibly, but my method has the advantage of not flooding the wiki with duplicate files. (Also I've found some pages with JPG images that had the same problem.) Anyway, I've got A done, and should be able to clear the others quite quickly. PurpleSerpent (ContribsMessage) 17:57, June 5, 2021 (EDT)
        • Ok. I will start to look where I can do my best. Maybe start at the end, and work towards the beginning of the list, if you are working from A... <edit> I got up to Scorrow Scout. I didn't fiddle with the entries with multiple sections such as Silver Flame Paladin. GMTrojan (Contribs⇑ top ⇑) 20:38, June 5, 2021 (EDT)
          • Alright, I think that's everything cleared up except the monsters with 2 or more versions, which I'll just fix now. Thanks for the help! PurpleSerpent (ContribsMessage) 17:45, June 6, 2021 (EDT)

Optional XP rates[edit]

Hello GMTrojan, just for information, because I triped here myself: When a XP bonus event is active, then this is added to the optional before resolving. As actual example: we have a 10% XP bonus active at the moment, so the optional rate for the eggs in "The Stone Crypt Chronicle" is 20% not 22%. Corgrind (ContribsMessage) 06:32, June 25, 2022 (EDT)
