Spell points

Ok, what did ya change to "my" Spell Point page? Error somewhere or just updating links and such?

Nvm, I checked the recent changes page. Woot, I got added to Basic Info! Wait a minute, I'm only "basic"? /cry. :-P Mad Bombardier 09:41, November 14, 2007 (EST)

Yeah, basic info is the category I use for the 'newbie' stuff. Basicly, any article that I find has reached a level of clearness and updateness is added to that category. When I'll get myself to edit the home page, the link to that category will be very important in it. For now, I use it to throw it to newbs that are clueless aboout the game, that, plus the d20SRD and the PnP differences... but that last page would need some loving! Followup conversation

Hi Borror0, Further to our discussion on the other talk page, I sure do use MSN, but don't have an active US acc, as I play on Devourer, a UK server. Can happily share MSN details though so we can chat on there to speak of this proposition of yours. My email for MSN is the same as the one in my user profile, you should be able to get those details, don't want to pop it in here! Thanks for unlocking that template! Should only take a moment for me to do the relevant, so by the time you get this, you can relock the temp if you want. Thanks, Andy. Andy Murtagh 23:29, August 27, 2008 (GMT+1)

Hi Borror0,
As mentioned above, edits on the Quest template that I needed to do are complete, apologies that they're a little sloppy, did a cpl of revisions as it's the first time i've handed off a filename to a nested template. All sorted now though, so lock templates again at will.
If you have a list of the variables on templates anywhere, I've just added mappic to Template:MissionInfoBox defaulting to No_Map.jpg if not provided, and added a handoff to Template:MissionInfoBox from Template:Quest. Feel free to add this to any list you keep!
Thanks, Andy. Andy Murtagh 23:58, August 27, 2008 (GMT+1)
Just email me (the Email this user at the right). It'll use your adress, so I'll know yours. I'm not too much of a fan of putting my adress up there. Or, you can just PM it to me on the EU forums. Account name is Borror0 there too. Borror0 11:43, August 28, 2008 (EDT)
Can't email you from that link! Peerless mentioned the fact that the lack of receipt of confirmation emails from my registration is a bug, and so I don't have a confirmed email address, and it won't let me send an email as a result. Will send you a message now on EU forums at that username. Quandru 15:20, August 29, 2008 (EDT)

Contact me

Chat is already available. I'm paying for it monthly, I'm not sure why y'all aren't using it. The initiative to move to a new server died, because nobody was contributing to the new wiki, and the 'new owner' of the network disappeared soon after 'buying' it from me. I changed contact addresses, it's all available on the site linked from my userpage. Very busy, got to run. Yoko had me contact you. elliottcable (talk, site) 01:37, November 22, 2008 (EST)

Unique items by type & Item enhancements

Hi Borror0, can we also include into the Wiki an additional field into item Templates? As an example Armor, add in what type of armor it is eg Full Plate, Studded Leather, etc. From there we could provide Unique items by type, people can go to a page and list all the unique rings on a page, another page can list all the unique full plate armor's, etc. Also noticed with the wiki that all the item enhancements lead to individual pages for the respective enhancement, to cut down on lots of pages and false links we could put all the enhancement descriptions on alphabetical or by type pages. Then just link to that part of the page, eg http://www.ddowiki.com/page/Enhancements_A#Absolute_Law or http://www.ddowiki.com/page/Enhancements_E#Enhancement_Bonus UltraMonk 21:06, September 5, 2009 (EDT)

RE: The item templates

Sure, no problem. If you don't know how to do it, ask me what you need and I'll get that done. If you know how to but the template is locked, let me know and I'll lower the security level. We used to have a little edit war so I increased the security on one of them but I can't remember which one.

RE: Item enchantments

No, I don't want them on one page. While we could do both, there is three problems with putting them all on one page. First of all, it leads to a freaking big page and that is really annoying to browse. At least, with individual page a quick wiki search or Google search gives you the information you're after without then having to find it on a really, really big page. Secondly, big page tend to force us to omit some information while individual pages allow us to put all the information we need or want to put. It also really helps when explaining difficult enchantments like Blood Rage! Finally, while big page look can nice in tables, putting with ==headers== to be able to link to makes it very messy.

Short answer: We can also have a big page and have individual pages, but I want to keep the individual pages. (Though, we can merge similar effects. There is simply no reason to have different pages for each variance of Seeker or Vertigo.)
PS: The correct term for item enhancement is item enchantment (and it's less confusing, IMO). Ideally, I'd like to rename everything but that is a lot of work. I'm still considering if that is worthwhile.
PPS: Thanks for your contribution. Borror0 23:26, September 5, 2009 (EDT)
Yes Template::Unique armors is locked
As for the Item enchantments, every now and again I have been fixing up some of them. Like +1 Enhancement Bonus, just turning the Enhancement Bonus into a link instead of the whole +1 Enhancement Bonus. Although I'd like to turn them into a tooltip like you have with other bonuses. UltraMonk 00:38, September 6, 2009 (EDT)
Unprotected and there is a template for the enhancement bonus, here It needs a name that follows the naming convention so I just duplicated the template to Template:Enhancement bonus. So use that one instead. We'll have to change it on the pages where it's currently used. Borror0 00:54, September 6, 2009 (EDT)
No pages are using Template::EB anymore. UltraMonk 22:49, November 15, 2009 (EST)

Delete my articles

How can i delete my articles? sorry for such a noob question. if i need authorization to delete, will you please delete them for me? if you go to Recent Changes , it all those articles with QuestTabs on them. i was trying to do tabs like what i have on my user page but i messed it up. sorry . thnx man. btw, lets keep this wiki up, it'll be worth the growing pains. - Sef326 00:09, November 12, 2009 (EST)

Well, there is a Delete button at the top if you got the rights for that. If it's not there, that means I have to create a "request for deletion" template. If the button is more there, just list the pages you want me to delete. --Borror0 04:13, November 12, 2009 (EST)
thnx borror0 for giving me superuser priv - Sef326 23:31, November 13, 2009 (EST)

BAB & attack chains -- woot!

Kudos to you for tackling all the outdated tables of these. I'd been procrastinating on that from the annoying amount of busywork involved.

I wanted to die halfway through for how tedious it was. Eh, at least it's done now! --Borror0 20:45, November 15, 2009 (EST)

Elven Mage Template

The elven mage template (https://ddowiki.com/page/Elven_Mage) lists the toughness enhancement twice. I put a small parenthetical next to it to draw attention to it, but thought Aranticus might want to review it for completeness. (Hope I'm doing this right!) -130.86.168.91 15:35, March 22, 2010

Re: Redirecting pages

Hey, thanks for the info. BTW, how do you send a message to someone? Also, I notice that [[Acid spells]] and [[Acid Spells]] are considered different pages. Before I knew this, I created "/page/Acid_Spells" and the lower case reference does not refer to the same page. Should I delete the capital version and create the lower case version? What a nightmare I've created; sorry for the mistakes. I'm still learning the syntax and grammar of Wiki coding. --Sindarin8 01:01, April 28, 2010 (EDT)

Don't worry about it. i have done far worse messes when I was new. It's just that close to no one was around to see them. :P
Delete the capital version ([[Acid Spells]]) and keep the lowercase version. Before deletion, though, ensure that you have transfered any valuable information to the lowercase page. For any question about the naming policy, just check the FAQ.
If you want to contact someone, just post on their talk page and they will see it. As you probably noticed when I wrote on your talk page, the user will get a tiny window telling them their talk page has been edited the next time he visits the wiki (or will get an email. if he has that option enabled). A few users have the option to receive an email, as well. Visit their user page and click on the E-mail this user link at the right of the screen. Finally, in my case, you can always add me in any IM client you use. My contact informations for those can be found here.
By the way, you could have replied to my message on your talk page. I would have seen it. ;)--Borror0 01:53, April 28, 2010 (EDT)

Bonus XP

Curious if you'd like the amounts at which xp bonuses are provided in a quest, on the map page it pertains to. And I can see about pictures of mobs if you'll want those, I looked through a few and saw the places for them, but none had pictures. In .jpg format I would assume? Any particular size you want it kept to? Mardulo 02:51, April 13, 2010 (EDT)

  1. I'm not sure what you mean with the XP bonuses. Could you elaborate?
    • The XP bonuses like Ransack 15%, 50 breakables; umm, Sack? 10%, 25 breaks; erm? 5%.
  2. Mob pictures would be cool.
  3. Yes, .jpg.
  4. No size restriction but try to be reasonable.
--Borror0 21:04, April 17, 2010 (EDT)
Question: Do the requirements for the bonuses stay the same throughout the difficulties? I know Hard and Elite has more mobs, but does that change how many mobs you gotta kill for the Kill bonuses? Can I run Casual and get the best numbers I can? -Mardulo 22:30, May 3, 2010
I've generally gotten the same numbers for the non-killable bonuses from Normal through Elite, so I'd assume Casual would be the same; just run a few with bonuses already listed on Casual to see if they match up. With the killables, however, Casual often won't have enough enemies for Conquest, or even Onslaught... and I've also noticed that the numbers required are a bit higher on harder difficulties. Aggression will be 1 or 2 off, which will push Onslaught to 2-4 off, which pushes Conquest to 3-6 off... Probably because there ARE more enemies, whereas traps/breakables/doors are static. I tend to just put the numbers I've found on the highest difficulty I've checked, rather than a range. And bear in mind that the Optionals XP is apparently doubled, percentage-wise, on Casual. -LrdSlvrhnd 00:14, May 4, 2010 (EDT)

can't login

This is Archangelwoghd. I was trying to upload an image "iron_golem.jpg", when the system kicked me out, and I am unable to log back in. Apparently my password is no longer any good. I tried to have a new password sent to my email woghd911@hotmail.com, but none has arrived. If other folks are having this same issue, I can understand why there are so many articles lacking images! What do I need to do, make a new account or what? I was so frustrated that I considered starting a competative wiki, lol, but I feel better now, hehehehe. (I own several private servers) Anywho...what can be done about this? --209.112.222.8 16:36, June 5, 2010 (EDT)

Ultramonk has already replied to your comment over at Xevo's talk page. If what he suggested does not work, let us know and we will try to solve your problem as quickly as possible. --Borror0 08:39, June 7, 2010 (EDT)
Thanks for everything you have done, I really appreciate it. Have you given any thought to Elliot's recommendation? There is a LOT that I can do for the wiki, given the right tools. I've been involved with several wikis and I'm very familiar with the software. Here is one that I have been working on for over a year now, to give you some idea of the mods, tweaks, etc., I can offer you. Also, I've been playing D+D since 1977, and love DDO, so I won't flake out and disappear, in fact I will be on this wiki several times a day. I'd really like the chance to make a difference here. --Archangel Talk 21:55, June 17, 2010 (EDT)
Usually I wait until an user has demonstrated his or her trustworthiness and knowledge until I promote him or her. What kind of tool would you need to have access to that you don't in your current user group? --Borror0 19:27, June 18, 2010 (EDT)
Honestly? For one the wiki data and tools section only has two offerings, both of which are redundant, I know from my other wiki work that there can be at least 16 tools to use there. I also have to keep doing the Capcha spam-filter every time I make a change, and that's a total hassle. I thought it would go away after a few (over 50) edits, but it hasn't. I could go on, but it would start to sound like I'm complaining, and I'm totally not. In fact I'm quite happy. I appreciate your position, and I assure you I'm quite trustworthy, have 2-3 hours a day to spend, and am extremely knowlegable with the wiki software. I won't hassle you about it any further, I was only curious. Be well. --Archangel Talk 19:51, June 18, 2010 (EDT)
The CAPTCHA is supposed to go away when you confirm your email address - you have confirmed your email address, right? And, go on all you want. I won't think you're complaining. I'm honestly curious of which tools you're seeking and I encourage you to try to persuade me. --Borror0 14:47, June 19, 2010 (EDT)
Well, for one thing, I'd protect this page... as for the other, I'm sure you can tell that I'm auto-confirmed. I'm wary of re-confirming, because I'm pretty sure the system will bork my password again, but I'll do it if you give the order. --Archangel Talk 17:36, June 20, 2010 (EDT)
Well since it's been a moth and no response, I went ahead and tried it. It didn't work. I'm scared to log off now because I'm pretty sure the same thing has happened once again... *sigh* --Archangel Talk 15:41, July 17, 2010 (EDT)

Weapon focus

  1. The pages 'Weapon focus', 'Weapon specialization', and 'Greater weapon specialization' only capitalize the phrase, but 'Weapon Focus: (Type)', 'Greater Weapon Focus', and 'Superior Weapon Focus' capitalize each word.
Suggestion: The former group of pages should be changed to capitalize each word, because this is the way they are shown in-game.
  2. 'Weapon focus' has separate pages for each weapon type (and 'Superior Weapon Focus' links back to the original 'Weapon Focus: (Type)' pages), but 'Weapon specialization', 'Greater Weapon Focus', 'Greater weapon specialization' do not.
Suggestion: The individual 'Weapon Focus: (Type)' pages should be deleted and 'Weapon focus' and 'Superior Weapon Focus' should follow the same format as the other mentioned pages.
  3. The 'Weapon Focus: Ranged' page exists, but 'Weapon Focus: Ranged Weapons' does not. I believe 'Weapon Focus: Ranged Weapons' is how the feat appears in-game, and the Compendium supports this, but I'm not sure. (This is of course true for the other 'Weapon Focus: (Type)' pages)
Suggestion: If the 'Weapon Focus: (Type)' pages aren't deleted (as per Suggestion #2), they should be moved to 'Weapon Focus: (Type) Weapons'
-- User:Smalldetails
1 & 3: Usually, we try to remain consistent with the in-game capitalization and nomenclature. If you see any divergences, feel free to correct them.
2: I disagree. Each weapon focus/weapon specialization is a different feat. As such, that is enough to deserve its own page. While it's best to avoid unnecessary repetition (which is why we don't have a page for each skill focus feat), the concept of weapon type is unclear to enough player to warrant a list of the applicable weapon on the Weapon Focus/Specialization's page (unlike skills, which are easier to tell apart).
--Borror0 20:00, August 18, 2010 (EDT)
Okay cool, thanks for the response, and especially so quickly. :) -- User:Smalldetails
ye, our early contributers back in 2006 did strange on capitalizing. when creating articles, basically they lowercased everything instead of following in-game descriptions. um, Borror, take a look at WoWwiki's policy pages (http://www.wowwiki.com/WoWWiki:Naming_policy and such). i think we need that kind of pages (probably brief one) since we are getting so many new editors these days. --yoko5000 01:19, August 19, 2010 (EDT)
It's partially covered in the FAQ but it would not hurt to create a separate page. --Borror0 04:29, August 20, 2010 (EDT)

they now load properly, that was just due to my poor coding on Template:Enhancement_table/itemwlvl. --yoko5000 08:13, February 13, 2011 (EST)

Augment Crystals

I've re-vamped Template:Augment on a sandbox so that it lists your choices when you mouse-over it. Some of the lists are kind of long, and I would like some input on if you guys think this revised template should be implemented. Here are the examples:

I am posting this on the talk pages of: Xevo, Yoko5000, Neouni, Borror0, UltraMonk, Backley, Shade, Raute borge, Yawgmoth, and LrdSlvrhnd Where-as I am posting this on multiple talk pages to get more opinion, I have included "Reply here" link as well. ShoeMaker 18:53, May 29, 2011 (EDT)

Wiki Admin Abusing Own Powers

It seems like one of your wiki admins is abusing its given privileged to fuel an edit war, then lock the article outright once it was clear that everyone but itself was not agreeing to its editing basis:

https://ddowiki.com/history/Devil_Assault_(quest) / Talk:Devil_Assault_(quest)

Everyone but the admin itself agreed that all cap was rude and unnecessary, but the admin insisted otherwise, then proceeded to lock the article outright once it's apparent that the admin cannot give out any real reason on the reverts at all (only reason ever given was "I happen to like the emphasis").

I am in fear that we may not want to see "admins" with this kind of personalities serving the community at all, wielding privileges given to meet their personal likings at the expanse of the benefits of the community. Hope you can take some moment and see into this issue, thanks. -- Gsklee (Contribs • Message) 04:43, October 5, 2011 (EDT)

Borror is kinda inactive due to RL and doesnt play the game much anymore. anyways, uh, for me this seems such a small stuff... HE DIDNT WANT IT TO BE LIKE THIS (which all of us agree to be unnecessary) but he happened to like it to be like THIS. however you wanted it to be like this... /shrug, yea page protection is really unnecessary... i see Tech13(s point too though, this is a freaking gaming wiki. adding small amount of jokes/friendliness here and there should be allowed. --yoko5000 05:25, October 5, 2011 (EDT)
Eeeek! Wow is all I can really say.. From personal experience in running numerous parties through this quest from level 3-4 groups running on normal to level 20 groups running on epic, and seeing multiple people rage quit because people are misinformed about the facts. Having said runs fail because one guy got locked out until the end and his two buddies rage quit leaving with him. I feel a certain amount of necessity for using as MUCH emphasis as humanly possible. It's not intended to offend anyone, or get in your face. After the claim that more information was added, I did not revert your edit, I simply re-emphasized the words I felt needed to be as such. Cool Face ShoeMaker 06:59, October 5, 2011 (EDT)
Personally, I would not dare to revert the edit of an admin with god knows how many contribs. It would be perhaps more appropriate to post at his wall or in the talk page and discuss your points. Anyway, emphasizing some points is OK. It's not like the text was flashing huge red letters, imho it's rather subtle. And debunking various game myths is an almost impossible task. Runs off to diplo the chest... --Cru121 08:59, October 5, 2011 (EDT)
The protection was a bit excessive, but I wouldn't go as far as calling it abuse of power. This is all pretty minor stuff which should have been discussed on the talk page. As far as I'm aware, such capitalization is considered grammatically correct in the English language if one wants to add emphasis. If there is really a debate about which form is preferable, do so on the talk page, but don't start an edit war. That goes for both of you. -Borror0 11:58, October 5, 2011 (EDT)
The avoidance of an edit war was the intent of the protection.. -- ShoeMaker 22:37, October 5, 2011 (EDT)
As Cru121 points out.. THIS would have been VERY excessive.. -- ShoeMaker (ContributionsMessage) 01:49, March 25, 2012 (EDT)
