A Lesser Tome of Learning

A (Heroic) Tome of Learning or Epic Tome of Learning are store-only* items which grant a permanent bonus to the total heroic experience earned for a character, stacking with all other XP bonuses (including ship buffs, Voice of the Master/Mantle of the Worldshaper, Delving Bonus, first time difficulty bonus, and XP bonus weekends). There are Lesser and Greater versions of both, plus an upgrade from one to the other (see table, below).

Tomes of Learning are Heroic only; they apply to heroic experience, Level 1-19. Once a character reaches level 20 or higher, the (Heroic) Tome will have no effect. Epic Tomes of Learning only apply to epic experience; they apply to Levels 20+, and have no effect for characters below level 20.

Consuming a Great Tome after already consuming a Lesser Tome will upgrade that effect, but they do not stack. Consuming an Epic Tome after consuming a (Heroic) Tome of Learning (or vice versa) will give both effects, as appropriate to level.

Once consumed, an icon will appear on the character sheet, next to the experience bar. This will change from Heroic to Epic as appropriate. Tomes of Learning persist through Reincarnation.

Versions

There are multiple versions of the Tome of Learning:

Epic

Lesser to Greater Tome of Learning (BtA)	Upgrades a Lesser Epic Tome to a Greater Epic Tome.

Legendary character

Epic Tomes of Learning function until level 30. They stop functioning once you take level 30 and become legendary. This means that if you're doing legendary quests for epic experience you will still be able to use your Epic Tome of Learning as you did before. These Tomes use your character level to determine eligibility, not quest level, so as long as you're gaining epic XP you'll retain its benefit.

Notes

• the bonus only applies to "regular" XP, not reaper XP
• the bonus only applies to quests and challenges, not xp stones (from sagas, daily dice or ottos box), slayers or monster manual
